Software installation I just bought the Canon SD1000 camera and am having difficulty installing the software. My laptop runs on Windows 2000 but the software CD won't execute because I don't have enough screen resolution. Which means that I can't install the USB driver. How then can I download pictures from my camera to the computer? What are my options?

Thanks Cammykins. Unfortunately, my computer's real old and does not meet the system requirements needed to run the software. My display screen resolution is only 600x800. So when I pop in the CD, I immediately get a message that says that the CD can not execute due to my screen resolution. I was hoping for a way around it, but it looks as if a new computer is the only solution, a pricey one at that. Meanwhile, I can temporarily use my computer at work which runs XP and doesn't need the software CD.

Just purchased a Cannon sd1000. Tried to load the software to a Windows ME system. It won't work. Any other way to use the camera thru the computer?

From my experience at working for a projector manufacturer who also dealed with software there is a few things you can do: 1) Open the CD to view the files in there. Contact the manufacturer to make sure all the files are listed on the software that was supplied or that its not corrupted. If that fails.. 2) Ask for them to send you another one if its still not working. It shouldnt cost you anything if its under the manufacturers warranty. After all, how else are you going to use this? 3) Make sure you are following the prompts. If all else fails, restart your computer to make sure that isnt what needs to be done before it works properly. Most software does require your system to be restarted in order to take affect... 3) If that STILL doesnt do it...then verify with the manufacturer their system requirements. Make sure your computer programs are compatible with their software install. If not, they might have an online option for your or a few other options you can do in order to install it. Good luck with your problems. I hope my experience helps you out. Have a wonderful day and keep me posted! Cheers, Cammykins.

Zoom Browser EX software always fails to install on my Sony Vaio laptop

Reading wht you are saying I agree that the problem is not the camera, cable, CD, etc... but your PC.
I assume you wife's computer is also running on Windows XP.
Can you verify that you have the administrator rights on your computer? Go under Start, Settings, Control Panel, User Accounts and be sure that close to your name is saying Administrator like in this example 1ebbf22.gif Another things to verify is that you don't have The Windows firewall blocking your application, again go under Control Panel and temporary disable it.
Last but not least use the ZoomBrowser 5.8 or higher.
Let me know the result.

Find cd software download for canon powershot SD1000 I lost my original cd

Which operating system do you have? Windows? mac? if it is windows which version? You should not need a lot of software to use the camera as you should be able to connect the camera and see the pictures (mac os 10.4 and windows XP/vista)
You can try going here to see if any of the software will help you:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=14901#DownloadDetailAct

You will have to select your operating system before it will show you any software otherwise you will only get the manuals.
Hope that helps

Windows me

Windows ME is supported according to the Canon USA site. Windows Me is much like Windows 98 so you will want to

1. Install the software first
2. Reboot the machine
3. Plug in the camera to your USB port.

This will be the optimal way to intall and get things working troublefree.

I want to download pictures into my comouter

Generally if you are running WIndows 98, you will need to reboot after installing the software to even have a chance of the camera being recognized correctly.

If you are running Windows 2000, XP or Vista, the camera should be recognized and a driver installed or searched for from the CD software you installed before plugging in the camera.

Sometimes if you plug in the camera first without installing the software, the PC finds a new device with no driver. You can see this by going to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager and you should see and exclamation on a device in the list. You need to remove this item and reboot your PC.

Now install the software first and when the install is done, then plug in your camera. Generally this works out pretty well.
