Install the camera to mine laptop

Hi,
Please try this.This works for almost all laptops
1) UNPLUG THE LAPTOP
2) REMOVE THE BATTERY
3) HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO 2 MINUTES
4) THEN PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN
5) START IT UP

Please let me know the operating system (Windows XP/Vista/others) of your computer and also whether you have the installation disk with you.

This is just a software issue. There might be uncompatible software installed in your computer or malware. 1st thing try to disable your computer's start up (remove all the driver software you installed for new devices) then restart your computer.
2. Connect 1 device then install the driver.
** if still not working need to perform windows system restore. You can choose the desired restore point or the last time you were able to use your computer normally.

**If still not working, you need to perform Factory recovery or set everything back to factory default. or use the recovery disk.

Note: before doing any Troubleshooting in your make sure that you have back up for your important files or image for the programs that you have.

On my Vista desktop it worked directly, but I had the same error message on my Vista laptop when the scanner was connected through an USB hub. Perhaps the power is not sufficient?
Then i plugged the connector directly into the laptop usb port 2.0, and the driver was automatically installed and works fine!

Are you sure you want to format and install clean, or do you want to reset to factory defaults,the way it was when the computer was new? If you want to restore, it depends on make and model.

To format:

Boot from your Vista DVD
Follow prompt up until it asks where to instal
Highlight your current Vista installation
Select Advance
Select Format

check the manufacturer site for Gigaware PC Cam and download the vista driver

disconnect the cam and restart you system and then after restarting connect back the cam and let the system detect it. and follow the installation procedure as computer appear.

if nothing work then uninstall the cam driver and restart.
and then reinstall the cam driver again(disconnect first the cam from the laptop) after installing connect back the cam and let detect again the system.

if nothing work notify me for further instruction.

Have you got Windows Vista on your computer? I have the same trouble - not solved yet. The instruction says to install the software first and then connect the camera - but the software-disc is not for vista yet - you have to download an upgrade for the eos-utility-program on the canon support-homepage. I did this too, but installed the upgrade after I had connected the camera already. Now I try it once more by uninstalling all and do the process completely in the correct order.

Get a capture card( IEEE1394) or if your laptop has a firewire inlet you already have a built in capture card. Connect your camcorder via a firewire cable to your laptop. Nero, Windows xp has the step by step procedure making your own dvd copy.
