westinghouse the security system the system is beeping when i disconnect it shuts....Download the manual. I can't remember if it is in the User's Manual or the Programming Manual but a sequence to reset the security code is detailed in one of them. Also, it sounds like the telephone line was wired through the system for full seizure. To defeat this, you will need to take it out of the phone lines at the outside telco box. How it is wired is that the alarm panel intercepts the telephone line first and then feeds the circuit back out to the main junction where the telco comes into the house

this is pertinent to uniden dect 1653 series and may work on yours as most uniden systems use the same format
1--call your phone number and wait until the system answers( if it is turned off , it answers after 15 rings and sounds a series of beeps
2--- during the greeting or beeps , press the # and immediately enter your security code . If you enter it incorrectly 3 times , the system hangs up and returns to standby
3--- the system announces the time and the number of messages in the memory and a help prompt. It beeps to let you know it's waiting for a command
4--when you hear the beeping , enter , enter a 2 digit code command from from the chart for example to play a message press# then 2
if you don't press any keys for 15 seconds the system hangs up and returns to standby
the chart codes are
#1---repeat message
#2-- play message
#3--skip message
#4 --delete message
#5--stop play back
#6 turn system on
#9---turn system off
#0 hear help prompts
to get your security code -- programming a security code
the default security code is 80
1-- with the phone in standby, open the menu from any handset
2-- select ans setup, the select security code
3-- use the number keypad to enter a 2 digit security code ( any numbers in the 00-99 bracket) Press menu/ select when you are finished
remember to note your security code

Check all ur windows and doors sensoring connections,might need to be changes.Weather is too hot or too cold,will trigger the alarm.When u arming tries by passed and any error codes for doors or windows connections codes.This should stop the fault alarm by the expanding and contracting sensors by the weathers.

The Fail To Comm message is not related to your low battery problem. A Fail to Communicate occurs when the alarm system tries to send a signal (alarm, trouble or restore) to a monitoring service but can't. Most often the causes are telephone related. Hot is ok in an alarm box, especially inside where you see your finned heatsink and capacitors, if it beeps it might be because you have a communication problem, a weak backup battery or else. Check if you have any codes being displayed on your LCD or LED and check in the signification in your user manual if any. If you are connected to an alarm central they should be able to tell you what is the problem by connecting remotelly to your system. If not, well I need more details.!

you can disconnect the power and the batteries. The manul should tell you how to open it up and see where the batter is. You just need to unplug it.

an easy fix is to get a dsl filter for your system and reconnect it back up to the telephone line.

Those of you having problems with the beeping on the Westinghouse systems when the doors/windows open. The solution on the XL4600 is #6 this should slience that!
