My hp dv6 is almost one mnth old. this afternoon when i booted up, it had 36 795 update operations where 230 where finished in 20min. because I was a bit stressed for time to finish an assignment I didnt want to wait and thought those operation updates could download at another time. unfortunately when i booted again the message 'plug in device boot and press any key" showed. Now I can do nothing and my laptop makes a funny sound. What happened?

SOURCE: new hard drive operating system loaded, now cant find hard drive

check the cables it properly connected or not. after start up press F8 key to check the installed hard drive is detected or not. if it is not, check with BIOS settings

Hello.

Either you have a memory issue or operating system problem.

First, try reseating (removing and reinserting) your memory (try one module at a time to test).

If still a problem, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.

If still a problem, the last choices are Factory Restore and reinstall. Accessing Factory Restore (restores to the factory settings and will wipe out anything that you have installed or saved on your PC), is dependent on your hardware manufacturer. Boot your system and press F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Ctrl+F11 to access Factory Restore. Follow the prompts.

If still not resolved, you'll probably need to reinstall your operating system.

Insert a Bootable Opearating system CD
Reload Your Operating System if Problem persist change your hard disk
Load the Operating System

SOURCE: Reboot and select proper boot

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to ......,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

The BIOS is AMI. Under ADVANCED SETUP:
The options listed for 1st,2nd ,3rd Boot device include:

IDE-0 means Pri master ?
IDE-1 means Pri slave ?
IDE-2 means Sec master ?
IDE-3 means Sec slave ?
