My tower will not turn on

I checked the power cord it is good. The tower will simply not start up, a lil light flashes on the right of the tower but i don't know what that means. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thank you

It sounds as if your power supply is having issues, I would recommend replacing it.  If your good with computers, you can test the power supply: 1. Open the computer tower. 2. Find the main plug which runs from the power supply to the motherboard. 3. There should be 16 wires. 4. Find the green wire, short it to the black wire with a paper clip. 5. If the computer seems to turn on, its your motherboard having issues and you will probably need a new computer.  If it does not turn on, your power supply has failed, and you need to replace it.
I hope this helps!

Can anyone please explain more detail about how to "short it to the black wire with a paper clip". Does this mean touching a paper clip to those two points so electricity can flow between them? Will I get a shock if I hold the paper clip in my hand as I do this (sorry if that's an ignorant question, I know nothing about electrical power/supply).

I have an hp compaq dx2400 micro tower desktop , but it doesn't work when I pluget it to the monitor,PLEASE HELP I HAVE A LOT OF DATA ON THAT PC

Make sure you are set up for correct monitor. If keyboard lights flash and HD beeps, but no picture, you may have an incorrect monitor setup. In BIOS, make sure you are set for proper internal/external video, and be sure to plug into right port.

My monitor no display and light is blinking

Hi,
if the monitor light is blinking this suggests that, there is no display signal coming from the tower. This could be because of the following .

1. Bad video card 2. Bad video software

To check, where the problem is , power of the system tower and remove the power cord from the back of the tower. Press and hold the power buttoon for 10 seconds and the reconnect the power cord and turn the tower on. Check if there is any display or the status of the light changes from amber to green for even a small instance.

If the light changes to green and back to amber the video port on the tower is bad

Alternatively you can connect the monitor to another desktop or laptop to check if the same is working correctly.

Thanks for using fixya

Touch screen wont turn on power light keeps flashing green, rapidly, worked right up till we moved it to a new computer. what do i do?

It may be that the cord you have plugged into the tower either a.) doesn't like the plug in or b.) your going to need to adjust power and voltage settings to the monitor

Tower won't turn on. There is a green light on the back near the power cord that's flashing green.

Pull the power cord out and allow it to reset. If you still have issues you may need to replace your power supply.

My dell inspiron want boot up

If your batter has gone bad (won't hold a charge) then it may not even have enough power to complete a boot up sequence. It will simply shut off from lack of power.

Plug it into an outlet and try booting it up with AC power. If that works, then most likely your battery is NG (no good).

If it acts the same way on AC power, then see if you can borrow another power cord and try it again. If that works, then the converter on your power cord has gone bad and you need a new one of those.
