Lxi television got an lxi tv from second hand shop. it has an onscreen scrolling menu i cannot turn off. the remote for the lxi tv is hard to read since used. i have no instruction manual for it. the Dish is hooked up and works with dish remote but doesnt turn off this problem on the screen.

    The on screen demo is scrolling from top to bottom I accidently hit a button on the remote and it turned on and I can't figure out how to turn it off.

    LXI model 564-42455950 Sears How to eliminate the promotional scroll. Hold the Control > button on the lower right of the remote for about 30 seconds.

You can't!

Replacement remotes are readily available and cheap! The average price is 150 to 300 Rand. I can never understand how people 'lose' remotes, unless it was put into storage and some boxes were tossed out. Perhaps you went shopping when the shops were closed and your couldn't find the remote?

I believe pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons at the same time is what puts the set into demo mode. (It might be CHAN UP and CHAN DOWN at the same - been so long I'm not sure, but I think it's the volume buttons.)

Follow these instructions to the "T". On step 13 use factory on the right menu block instead of the left.
The procedure resets your monitor to factory setting on the boards an eeprom. It may or may not work if you have a bad component.
1. Using the Volume button (Remote or Monitor) turn the volume all the way down.
2. Hold the Menu button on the Monitor.
3. Press the Menu button on the Remote.
4. Press and hold the Volume button on the remote for 5 seconds and then release the Menu button on the Monitor. After this step the date will appear on the left side of the screen within 10 seconds.
5. Click the Menu button on the remote.
6. Click the Left Arrow button on the remote.
7. By using the Down Arrow button, scroll to Settings and then click the Left Arrow button.
8. Highlight "Eepreset" and click the Left Arrow button. (The monitor will turn off at this time)
9. Push the Power button on the remote, the unit will turn back on.
10. Click the Menu button on the remote.
11. Click the Left Arrow button on the remote.
12. By using the Down Arrow button, scroll to Settings and then click the Left Arrow button.
13. Highlight Factory and click on the Left Arrow button to select "Off"
14. Click Menu on the remote.
15. Click Menu on the remote.

Persistent menu on screen pop ups
I just had a similar problem, and it turned out that one of the little rubber buttons was pushed down and had gotten stuck under the plastic housing just enough to create contact, but hardly enough to notice at first glance.
