Wireless linksys I need to set up my linksys but I lost the key code

It has probably been a while since you set up the security options on your Linksys router, and chances are, you've forgotten or lost the WEP key.
Luckily, you can easily recover this security code when you need it.
A base computer and a printer are required for this task.

Open a Web browser on your base computer.
Navigate to the Linksys setup menu by typing "http://192.168.1.1" into the browser's address bar and pressing "Enter."
This is the router's LAN address.


Locate the "Security" tab near the top of the window.
Clicking on this tab unlocks your WEP code, so to speak the code is now displayed on the screen.

Print this screen by clicking "File" and then "Print" on your browser's toolbar.
Verify that the entire page printed correctly and that no digits are missing from the end of the WEP key.
If any numbers are missing, fill them in.

Type in your WEP key when prompted by the wireless setup screens on other computers in your network.
This will allow the computers to access your local network and the Internet.

Return to the base computer and close out of the Linksys setup screen by clicking the red "X" in the upper right corner of the application window.

Just hold reset button in back for 30 secs small black hole then goto 192.168.1.1 in your web browser use password admin admin or admin password that should get you in to resetup you wirelss settings.

The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

If you want to obtain the password or security on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

You can also reset the router to its factory state but you need to keep in mind that all settings will be back to its default settings. To reset the router press and hold the small reset button at the back of the router using a Pen or a Paper Clip for 15-30 seconds.

Can you connect directly to your router using an ethernet cable?

Go into your settings on the router and choose a security key.

Set the same key for your laptops etc..

Your wireless network must be secured
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.

Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then connect 1 computer to the router and open the router set up page. Once you open the router set up page, you will be able to find the wireless network key.

If you configure the Linksys wireless router with encryption and you configure your wireless card in your computer with the router's encryption settings it will secure the Linksys wireless router and allow your computer to connect to the Linksys. Press the reset button for 30 seconds. This will restore the default settings. The Linksys default user name and password are both "admin" without the quotes. You will have to reconfigure the security settings.

When configure security, is better to connect to network cable. Because once u setup the wireless key such as WEP or WPA, u will be log out from the wireless connection and u need the correct key to login.
