HOW TO SET A PASSWORD IN THE ROUTER?

There are 2 credential accounts. One for the router via web interface. It is useless to set one up, since the reset is located in the back. The second is for the wireless normally known as the SSID for the user and the Paraphrase / Key for the password. Log in via web admin. 192.168.1.1 admin is the default password with no user. Reset in the back if you need to clear any and ALL custom setting by holding it till it cycles.

The connection cannot detect the wireless

Your computer/laptop needs the encryption key that is in the router's wireless settings before it can connect to the wireless router..
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
Connect your DSL or cable modem to the D-Link router.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

The network is working but

If the internet is not working first thing to check here is the internet connection from your modem without the router, make sure that your computer can access the internet when computer is connected directly to modem, if no internet without the router you need to contact your ISP for that, but if there's internet without the router you need to reset and reconfigure the router.....if you have the setup CD of the router just run that to reconfigure it back.........

When I route my cable line through router I cnnot

sounds like you recently upgraded your Pc or software, maybe even just a driver update? If so it will help figure out your problem.
Always try to reboot your network(router, modem,pc,laptop)for at least 30 sec, usually its a communication error or a firewall issue that blocks router access, and then again it could be a driver or software compatibility problem. email me with more info if you still need help [email protected]

The default username and password to configure router doesnt work

Try to turn off your modem first before trying to open the router's setup page. By default, there's no username and the password is admin. Also turn off any firewall you have.

Wireless set-up

Did you try to check if the cord is properly connected to the router? Check if you can connect to another LAN port. If the router is working on the another computer it means that there is something on part of your computer that is not working properly, Check also the Ethernet cable if working properly? or try to use another Ethernet cable to connect with the computer.

Cannot complete setup

Did you set new admin password in your setup? If not, just type user: admin and 'blank' password (do not fill the password. If yes, and you can't log in using your new admin password, try to reset your router with push reset button (small black button in the back side of router). Follow the reset procedure that found in the manual.
