What is the number that should be programed into the simon 3 security system for the central monitoring system?

To clear the tamper enter the code and off twice in a row. The central station number will be given to you by the company monitoring your alarm which will cost you between $29 to $49 a month

Changed battery on simon 3 monitor but now phone line is down

If, as you say, you just changed the battery and had no phones right afterward it's likely that you accidentally loosened the phone jack inside the back of the panel(accessible when unit is opened to change the battery). Remove and then re-insert the phone-jack clip, usually on a wide flat cable, and carefully tuck/fold the wires in the hollow area so no pressure is on the phone jack & wire;recheck phones.

I have a ge simon 3. I would like to do my own monitoring by cell phone or broadband. Can I do this without using a monitoring service?

No, I'm sorry your system is made to connect with a specialized computer at a monitoring service. This computer is designed to recognize a format (language) and data transmission from your system. An ordinary pc computer does not have this capacity. However, there are several companies that make a communication device that can be programmed with 3 to 4 telephone numbers that will call and leave a voice message on your cell or other phone numbers. A knowledge of how to hook these units up to your system is recommended. One company is United Security Products (USP), models AD2001 and AD2000. The other is Visonic, model DL125C. Expect to pay about $100 to $150 for any of these units.

Todd, when you trip the system does it seize the phone line. (meaning does it cut off the plone line to your house phones.) if not you have a wiring problem. also security systems are designed to talk to the monitoring stations reciever on standard pots(annalog) phone lines, not on a dsl line with out a dsl filter. not over voip lines,. you may want to see if your monitoring station can connect to your system remotly. any good security company should be able to do this for you. if they cant you may want to look for a new company.

I have ge simon 3 which suddenly says phone not

you may have had a lighting strike to the phone line causing a surg to your unit. it may be fried. try completly powering down the system and powering it back up, then try to send a signal to your monitoring station. also you my have your monitorimg station try and connect to your system and check the programing it may have been scrambled.

Set up phone number

You do not have to use a monitoring company. Put your own cell phone number in option 05 (no need for pauses unless you are calling an office with extensions). The system calls your cell phone to notify you of any alarm. Also, you can you your cell phone to control the system remotely. I recommend to bring always with you (in your wallet) a copy of the page of the manual that contains all the commands you can use from your mobile phone. I hope this helps.

an easy fix is to get a dsl filter for your system and reconnect it back up to the telephone line.

Phone problem

Remote Access is an option that you would have had to enter in the programming. Generally it is left out because it isn't a very good option. Who monitors your system? Is Verizon FIOS digital phone service, DSL, or what?

Using DTIM with digital phone service

It turns out that because Comcast uses VoIP, the Simon can't use it to call in reports. I ended up having to switch monitoring companies to one that specifically uses internet monitoring. The solution was to buy/install a wireless g bridge into the phone output on the alarm panel, and then connect it (wirelessly) to my home network. No major problems since then.

You can do this, you need the installation manual to set it up and the installer code. Should take you twenty minutes or so. http://www.ge.com/products_services/security.html You will have to sign up to get access. Good luck

Hi,
You need to get the ''installer code'' from your alarm company in order to go into the programming of your system and do the change...and of course the programming manual, please be advised hat if you make any change to your system and something goes wrong your alarm company could charge you in order to fix the problem. Legally, IF you bought the system, you are entitled to get the installer code, the alarm company can't even think to argue about that!.

Want to bet on it? Guardian security won't give out the installer code citing that it is proprietary to them. They even locked out the ability to power down the panel and power back up with the manufacturers default codes. Their point? If we give the code to me, they will need to give it to any customer that asks for it. Yet they are willing to give the code to a perfect stranger that comes to my home presenting himself as a contract installer. Insanity. You can't reason with a crazy person.
