I am having problems with my touch pad. The scroller is no longer working, and if I'm writing a message it will skip to where the cursor is, or make me go to a totally different page. I tried doing a driver update. It works but after 10 minutes it freezes up and I can't use the mouse! So is there a fix for this??

How in God's name is this solution inappropriate? Take the thing to a certified Compaq Service Center, or call HP, and they are going to tell you the exact same thing....
Good luck with that.

How about "thanks for trying", then? Inappropriate means just that: offensive. I have a hard time believing my answer was inappropriate. In fact, I find it even hard to believe that it "wasn't helpful".
Please clue us in when you do get an "appropriate answer"...How about "thanks for trying", then? Inappropriate means just that: offensive. I have a hard time believing my answer was inappropriate. In fact, I find it even hard to believe that it "wasn't helpful".

Your Touch pad Driver is not install or it is not updated. Download your touch pad driver from Acer Driver Download website and install it. It'll surely solve your problem
PLease turn off your touchpad for a while, then run it again to see how your scroller work. If still the same, your touch pad is malfunction and need to repair at dealer. Otherwise, instead of using touchpad , just use an external mouse to work on your laptop.
What e-mail program are you using?
Try placing a piece of card or a thin book or similar item over the touch pad so it cannot be touched. Then try typing an e-mail. If the problem goes away then it is definately a problem with the touch pad. If the problem remains then there is some other problem, possibly the keyboard layout cause you to press the DELETE button by mistake.
If the touch pad is the problem then try setting the touch pad sensitivity to minimum. Plugging in a USB mouse DOES NOT disable the touch pad, so this will not help you if you accidentally brush the touch pad while typing.
On your touch pad exists a place that works like a scroller on the mouse (Usually the right part of pad with white lining). When you rest your wrists in this area, the cursor usually jumps in another place. I'm of course hoping that this is the problem and that your touch pad works fine. Try it and please tell me if this fails..
Since you haven't provided the Windows Operating System version (XP/Vista/7 or other?), I'll have to provide the general scope of what you should try.
1. Go to the Control Panel and open up your Mouse section
2. Look through the different tabs until you find an option to either "Enable" your touchpad, or one that says the equivalent of "Disable Touchpad when external mouse or device is connected"
The idea is to accomplish your aim by working with the mouse settings provided for your system. Good luck and go easy on the "blue thumb". Please provide more specific information before a negative response.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE MAY HAVE DRIVERS OR IRQ THAT ARE CONFLICTING, TRY UNINSTALLING THE DRIVERS FOR YOUR WIRELESS MOUSE, AND REINSTALLING THEM, MAKE SURE THE WIRELESS MOUSE IS UNHOOKED BEFORE YOU REINSTALL THE DRIVERS.
This is usually cause by interference from other electronic devices. Try a standard usb mouse and see if the problem goes away. If it does then you know something is interferring. Another solution would be to try fresh batteries in the wireless mouse as low batteries can also cause this problem. Hope these tips help you out.
Hi there. The touchpad drivers could be corrupt, try reinstalling the touchpad drivers again. Go here to Toshiba Support fill in the details of your model laptop and download the synaptics touchpad driver and reinstall it, see if that helps.
The most common reason that your cursor skips around is that you are touching the touch pad when typing. Some are more sensitive than others. On my Toshiba I had that problem, but it has a Fn key that allows me to turn off the touchpad. Problem went away when I went to a mouse instead. Had a client with a Dell with the same problem. I had to actually physically disconnect the touchpad and her problem went away. Now as for the first problem, (the HP), I'd say you have a stuck key on the keyboard. It would make that noise.
