Even when the unit is not set to run, the drain pump runs constantly. The water does drain so it is not clogged. We have to leave the door open or the breaker off to stop it.

the is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. it actually filters the water going into your dishwasher and leaves your dishes spot free. after the first load i was amazed that the white film was gone and my dishes were sparkling. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com.

It looks like your inlet water valve is stuck after it powers on which means you have to replace it. If you can provide me a model and serial number of the dishwasher, I can provide you with the correct part number and a breakdown diagram. You can find the model number on the door frame of the dishwasher.

SOURCE: Dishwasher will not drain water out after completing the rince or final cycle
Thanks for respsonding, but the problem was a collapsed y-connector at the drain. We think it was an original plumbing error. The clamp was so tight at the connection to the drain, the PVC pipe collapsed. Turns out the problem was six feet away from the dishwasher. Go figure......

Will the dish washer spray water during the wash cycle? If no it could be the pump motor. The motor will run in the opposite direction to drain the washer. If it spays water it could be a clog in the drain hose or the connection to the drain (on newer units) or garbage disposal (on older units). Remove the hose from the drain and place it into a large bucket to see if it drains during unit operation (stop the washer if the bucket fills). if it does clean the connection to the drain or the garbage disposal hole. If not make sure the hose is free from obstructions. If the above checks out then check for voltage on the pump connection with a volt meter. You may be able to visually inspect the pump or listen for the vibration of the pump during the draining operation. If you have voltage the pump is defective or the internal garbage disposal (found on newer units only) is clogged or damaged.
