My display for the oven went out. I ordered the new relay/display board and harness from Thermador and replaced all the parts. Now the screen is visible, but just barely! The room has to be dark to see it. Is there something else that could be contributing to this problem of a very faint screen, or do you think I just purchased a faulty new board? My first board went out shortly after the oven heating element burned out. Do you think there is any correlation? Thanks for your help in advance
Woke up this morning and heard my smw272 built-in oven beeping.
Oh no! First the display (but at least the oven worked) now the
oven is beeping (fault signal according to manual) and the thing
is dead except for the microwave and warming bin. The only
way to turn off the incessant beeping--which was driving me crazy--was
to go outside to the fuse box and turn off the circuit to the
oven. Yeah, I stopped the beeping but now I'm at the mercy of the
unscrupulous service repairman--was quoted a flat fee to drive
out and a hefty hourly rate (i.e., "value added" service charge).
OUCH! Hey folks, please follow my simple advice if you want to
avoid making a big mistake: NO MORE THERMADORS. RUN--DON'T
WALK AWAY FROM THIS BRAND!!!

Today is Friday Nov 26, 2010. My smw272 built-in oven is 7 years old. So far I've had to replace the bake element twice, the convection element twice the mother board and as of Wed the 24th one side was always hotter by 25 degrees and took 30 to 45 minutes to preheat. Yesterday on Thursday Nov 25, 2010 (ONLY Thanksgiving day) the motherboard went out AGAIN and I had no over at all to cook dinner with. Not only that, but this is the second Thanksgiving that the oven didn’t work. Is this what’s known as Thermador quality? I’m on line now shopping for a Kenmore. They’re always more reliable!

Usually answered in minutes!
Yeah, have the same problem. Display has faded out to the point
where it is difficult to read. And unit is only a few years
old! No more Thermadors after this. I've learned my lesson!
