My Dvd player won't read discs, I tried running a cleaner disc to clean the lens, but it still won't read. I found out that if I open the disc lid and hold down on the disc lid button- such that the player thinks the lid is closed- I can watch as the reader tries to read the disc. When it tries to read, the disc doesn't hardly spin, but acts like it is trying to. I took my finger and spun the disc fairly fast and then held down on the disc lid button, and then I took off and spun the disc and read and played it. Is the motor bad or something? Thanks

cleaning the DVD player will help it read the disc, because a DVD player does get dusty. also it might be the disc, some DVD players will not accept some disc.
Hi,
It is normal when DVD player requires lens replacement. The lens can be replaced. But please clean first before you decide to replace the lens. Sometime clean the lens will restore your player.
Use lens cleaner to do cleaning on it
Regards
how long have you been using the player. There is every
tendency that the lens (laser) of your player is weak and that's why it
cannot read or play DVDs.
The lens (laser) is what makes the player reads discs, and if the lens is weak/dirty, there is no way it can read or play disc.
Get
a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, if that does not solve the
problem, then its means, the lens needs to be changed completely.
It is a CD with brushes on the bottom to help clean the laser lens (used for reading discs). It can be found cheapest in grocery stores, then office supply stores, and finally most expensive in electronics stores. It will usually run you about five to ten dollars, and can be used multiple times on any disc drive.
