Braun Problems: Cutters

My shaver suddenly started to sputter when I switched it on and stopped working. However, it still switches on and indicates a full charge. The yellow cutter foil icon is lit. Would non-replacement of the foil cause the unit to not work? Should I just buy a new foil or is it likely another issue?

Try removing the foil and cutter head. Wait a few minutes and then refit them. It may be on some sort of electronic timer that after so many hours of shaving, the unit automatically comes up with a "change foil" icon and then wont let you use it until its replaced.

when you remove the cutter block is there a white nylon fixture atop the vibrating mechanism? this nylon piece snaps on the vibrating rod and the cutter snaps into the nylon fixture.

Follow the instruction and remove the swivel head. Then remove the 2 screws at the bottom. I still have problem sliding the two side head support off.

You can reset it very easily..here is the method...
There is a small button under LCD screen..If you push that button 3 times a message comes as "foil +cutter" push 4.th times than you will have a message"reset foil" and push again and keep pushing until flashing stops it gives "Reset OK" message..it is done..

If I understand correctly, the shaver is dead but all other components are in good condition. If this is the case, you should consider ordering a replacement lower unit. See shaveroutlet.com link below

To open the unit, first remove the foil and cutters. Then remove the swivel frame by taking out the two tiny screws on each side. Then locate the two round screw covers on either side of the hole where th cord plugs into the shaver. You will have to pry them out with a tiny jewelers screwdriver or similar object. Then remove the two screws underneath. You can then carefully pry the case apart from the bottom

I am trying to remove the pivoting head from my Braun 8585 ... removed screen and cutters and the two screws under the cutters but cannot see what else to do to get the head removed

The swivel frame can not alone be removed from the shaver. It is part of a component called a 'drive unit' which icludes the motor. You will find a disassembly video at shaveroutlet.com. See link below and scroll down for video

Braun shaver 7505 trimming blade slide will only move between position 3 (trimming) part way to 2. It will not go to 2 or 1(off). This happened suddenly. Shaver operates with cord, but must be unplugged to...

The trimmer and on/off switch are part of the same mechanism. The problem is that the switch apparatus is broken and preventing the trimmer from sliding up. You can't repair it without replacing it.
This is a hard part to find for your model and I don't know where to direct you to purchase one.
I have another suggestion which will be a good remedy especially if your shaver has original batteries and is over 3 or 4 years old. This suggestion is to replace the whole 'lower unit'. This would be the entire handle portion of the shaver. You can upgrade to a nicer model at the same time. Take a look at this compatible lower unit at shaveroutlet.com. See link below.

Does Braun grant warrantees on broken parts?

Most Braun shavers are warranted for 2 years. The warranty covers the entire shaver except for the foils and cutters. No manufacturer covers the foils and cutters.
If you believe that your problem is covered by the warranty, call Braun at 1-800-272-8611 for assistance.
If your foil and/or cutter is worn out, you will simply need to replace them. You will find these parts at shaveroutlet.com
