TDP-S8 Power supply led not lighting up. Unit not working

The projector, which has no on/off switch, was left plugged in to main supply. The power LED stayed on and it operated normally when used. I then decided to disconnect the supply when not using the projector and the next time I tried to use it the LED did not light up and the projector did not work. I left it plugged in and after a short while (+- 5 minutes) the led came on and the projector worked normally. This happened twice although the second time it took about 25 minutes for the led to come on. On the third occasion it did not work at all.

There seems to be problem in your power supply. Look for any swollen capacitor --- generally 3300uf, 10V. Be careful about the polarity of the capacitor before you take it out. Check the capacitor to make sure how it's mounted ( for polarity purpose). Negative side of capacitor will be toward the outside of pc board. Substituting 2200uf, 16V capacitor for 3300uf, 10V will work ok.

My Toshiba TDP-S8 projector will not power up at all.

hi,
check the mains chord, also check the power in the wall socket to which the projector is connected. if all these ok then, may be its power supply side have some problem. its an smps power supply. just check its input fuse on the smps. if it fond faulty the do not replace it suddenly. check is there is any thing faulty on the smps board. because the fuse will blow off only if there is any problem in smps. check it first before inserting fuse.

I have a toshiba TDP-S8 projector up until about a week ago it was fine but now when i try to turn it on either by remote or button on projector the yellow power light disappears then reappears about 5...

Check the color wheel if it is not turning when you hit the power button (light should flash) you have 1 or 2 loose caps on the bottom of the main board behind the audio input try to resolder them with low heat iron these are smt caps and very hard work on if you have not worked on this kind of job take it to a expert
good luck! ps make sure you glue them down
if you do get them to work to prevent a reocurance.
OR you have a power supply issue which
should be a swolen 3300 mf 10 volt cap
in the main power supply.

The projector comes on, lights up but then shuts off after 30 seconds

My TDP-T9 had the same symptoms. A 3300uF 10V electrolytic cap in the power supply (Liteon) unit was domed up, so I replaced it with a high-spec 2200uF 16V cap costing three dollars. The re-flow solder on the board was damn hard to melt though, needed 400°C setting on the soldering iron.

Toshiba Projector won't turn on!!!

I had the same. Try to press the "input" and "menue" buttons and plug in the power cable. No control light should be active after that. Press the "power" button and it should work.

Standby light for toshiba

probably power supply or ballast (starts the lamp)

either would be $600.00 or so to repair, probably costs more than the projector is worth.

TDP-S8

The main problem is the power supply. In detail, the output capacitor of the power supply causes the problem. I guess, Toshiba or Lite ON didn't consider the aging effect of the output capacitor. You should replace the output capacitor to fix the problem. (In some sites, they recommend to replace the power supply, but don't do that. The new power supply costs over $200 and the capacitor will be less than 50cents.) If you disassemble TDP-S8, in the power supply, you can find the electrolytic capacitor 3300uF/10V. You should replace this with any electrolytic capacitor with the range of 2000uF~4000uF/10~16V. You can download the service manual from some websites (I've paid $5 for this) then you can disassemble the projector. Of course, you need to do soldering to replace the capacitor. I've fixed this problem yesterday and it took about 4 hours for me. Good Luck~~!!
