None of the buttons respond on this Crosley HE Electronic Dryer Model CDE4205AYJ. The control panel lights up but nothing else. The control panel doesn't have the usual knobs, but it has one of those electronic bubble-type switch panels, like the ones on many microwave ovens. I opened up the back of the top console the control panel is on and found a schematic and troubleshooting guide. It says how to access the diagnostic mode. Most times the buttons don't respond to get into diagnostic mode. The few times it did go into diagnostic mode (I could see a "d" on the display, as per the troubleshooting guide) I couldn't get past that point because the buttons don't respond. Do I have a bad control board, the one all the cables plug into? Could this be caused by a bad high limit thermostat, door switch or anything else? Thanks!
Don't you just love electronic controls. On the inside of the dryer is like it always was back in the day with mechanical timers. The same old problem the old ones had is the blower wheel slips and causes overheating or a ball of lint at the base of the filter chute. This eventually blows the FUSE. Their is 2 of them fuses so look close one is usually behind a shield out of sight and may have been overlooked. DIAGRAM

SOURCE: Follow up on an earlier problem
I have had the same problem over the past several months. Typically it would clear itself out (clear 8.8. on display) after several minutes. Today it reoccurred but this time it would not clear. I knew it was a problem with the control board. So I removed the control board and discovered that the capacitor for the 5VDC power had ?popped?. I replaced the capacitor and every thing worked! Hope this helps.

Problem resolved. Although the membrane control panel passed the diagnostic test, it was defective. Probably a low voltage conductor went to ground, allowing the buttons to operate but throwing the control board into error mode.

I fixed my own problem...I took the extra 4th wire(green) and attached it to the dryer body...There is a screw with the word ground stamped into the metal above it. This is right next to the panal where the cord goes into. I just unscrewed it and put my cable there and the dryer works perfect.....These things need to have a detailed diagram on the dryer....

Bad control panel. Replace the control panel at repairclinic.com. When your control panel clicks like that it means that a resistor or solder joint has gone bad and it is cheaper and easier to just replace the board

TRY DISCONECTING THE VENTING FROM THE BACK OF THE DRYER THEN RUNNING IT .POSSABLE THE OUTSIDE FLAPPER STUCK?IM THINKING NOT THE DRYER. GOOD LUCK!
