2004 chevy cavalier. the driver's side window rolls down fine. But sometimes when you try to roll it up, it stops. If you wait a few seconds then push the button again, the window will go up a little bit. Then you have to wait again, and repeat. It eventually goes all the way up.
Any idea's?
I had the same problem! It has got to be your Window motor. I had to have mine replaced...here is the link to my question I just posted an updated solution w/how much it cost me and more advice! (I just now realized I had a typo in the question--feel a bit silly now)

Don't pull on it or you could ruin your regulator-- so the shop says now... after market motor should run you about 30 dollars the shop told me it would be 150 if I bought GM parts...
Try spraying silicone lube (generously) down the felt tracks on either end, as well as up sides, and see if that helps. Work window up & down.
Yes I know what You mean, i had a similar thing in my 99 caravan passenger window. It's either an inline circuit breaker (which I haven't been able to confirm on your vehicle as of yet) or the motor itself heats up too much from working so hard if window is dry & trying to push it up. Possibility of switch but I doubt it, if it works after letting it cool down a bit. That circuit breaker I'm trying to confirm, may re-set itself after cooling down, or after key shuts off. The reason I went with the spray, is that if you decrease the load on the motor by lubricating the tracks, which in turn should allow window to move easier, it may help in stopping that breaker from tripping. When window stops, try hitting inside door panel near mid section,a good whack while holding switch, and see if window moves at all. Just trying to eliminate replacement of power window motor if at all possible. I ended up eventually removing my inside door panel & lubricating all the track/guides with grease & it's still working today.

thanks for the quick response in regards to my 2004 chevy cavalier. the problem seems more electrical to me. its like the window losses power, then has to store it up a bit before it will move again. any thoughts on this?
thanks
my passaenger side window is down all the way and I can't get it up is there a release switch for a 04 2 door cavalier with switches in the center console?
windows sometimes goes down or up
if you push the 1 or 2 settings on the drivers side door panel the radio seems to loose sound and sometimes if you really watch the display for the heater will also flash it usually takes a while driving down the road but sound usually comes back on eventually
