The problem has been there all the time, probably a dry solder joint or a bad chip, thats got worse over time & has now completly failed, its time for either a trip to the tv repair man, or the best option a nice new smart tv, i just bought a 42" for £199 why mess about.
That would be a burnt out lamp, or better yet the lamp blew up as in broken, when that happens you will not get sound. If it just gave up as in burnt out you will get sound but no picture. Both are the same the lamp needs to be replaced.
all you need to do is change the lamp...go to a tv repair man tell them the model/serial no. and the lamp code..you will find that on the left had side of you tv as you are looking at the screen,,,that should do it for you. good luck
the lamp has a life cicle. if yours is been used a lot. then the lamp has to be changed. when the tv cannot turn on steady and gets off imm. the computer inside the tv tries to turn off the set but the lamp charges again and the micro tends to keep working. the first step to take in this tv is to change the lamp to eliminate this common source of problems
The first time my lamp needed replaced, the red light came on as well. This time my tv did the same thing, but after talking to my tv repair man he thought it was the lamp. He said that if you use your tv often then the lamp probaly needs to be changed after two or three years. I replacedmy bulb and it corrected the problem and I MUCH BETTER PICTURE.
