Tv does not come on instantly when powered up

I have had problems with my Sony Grand Wega KDG-42WE655 tv when it is trying to boot up to come on. When I turn the tv on it will hesitate on coming on. The green "power/standby" indicator will flash 8 or 9 times before the tv will have sound and picture. Many times it has taken about 5 minutes for the sound and picture to come on. I have had this tv for 1 1/2 years and have replaced the projection lamp 3 times. I have had a tv repair shop to check it out and they replaced the "h2-board" on it, but it has not helped with the problem. The charge was quite expensive and still is doing the same thing as it did when i sent it for repair. The last information from them was that it could be the "balast" but it would go through 4 or 5 hits before it would come on. I would like some information to correct my problem if someone could help me. My son-in-law has the same tv and his comes on instantly when turned on.

I have the KDF-42we655 also and is 1 1/2 years old, it will not come on unless I unplug it and plug it back in numerous times, also when I shut it off during this the fan stays going until it is unplugged

On these models either lamp or lamp driver(ballast)is defective or both, would suggest to change both at same time..however cost may be prohibitive.

This is normal. as your lamp gets older it takes longer to come on , because the gas in the lamp gets lower with use. its in your owners man If you turn tv on then turn off it can take 5 mins , because thetv will not turn on the lamp till its cool to preserve longer life.
