Vitamin c is usually recommended in unnaturally high doses as a panacea. However, that level can be very irritating to the entire g.i. tract, especially when taken regularly, for months. Some have found that smaller amounts are equally beneficial for colds, allergic reactions, general well-being, and so on. A low-dose chewable tablet, about 100 mgs, can be taken, one directly after each meal, without discomfort. If still upsetting, try taking with a calcium supplement, or antacid, like Tums.
Vitamins should be taken with food. Taking vitamins on an empty stomach
can cause an upset stomach. Also, make sure to take it during the day and not
before you go to bed because Vitamin C is a stimulating vitamin.
