I can access both independently. when I try to statically assign addresses to each I get all led lights the wan port on the router and they stay solid. the network portion is 192.168.1.x the router has a login section for pppoe but it doesn't sem to work anyway I cannot ping the modem while they are both connected.

More info, you have a modem/router and another router? and what is "both" independently? and "while they are both connected" both what? If you just have one box the modem router, disable bridge mode or you just have a modem then with no routing.

SOURCE: configure WRT300N wireless Router to connect internet using PPPoE

Often the nets and subnets are NOT the same.. ie The Fixed connection often uses 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, however sometimes the wifi is setup 10.1.1.1, or 10.0.0.1 etc, have you checked this? Esentially tho ya router is an "Acess Point" and ya Lappy etc is ya "Client" the links below has a lot of tutorials to help have a look. http://portforward.com/routers.htm http://portforward.com/guides.htm

SOURCE: How do I get rid of the router using an automatic private address which keeps disconnecting?

the router will give you a private address , that is the functionality of the router, the problem is not with your connection, try to upgrade the latest firmware inthe router and reconfig the router in a pppoe mode that will fix your problem..

SOURCE: Couldn't get internet via Wirless Router

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. here are the steps u need to do:

1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 20sec..while pressing the reset button, unplug the power plug and after 2secs while pressing the reset button plug it back in and press for 30secs after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..once all the lights are solid and ok
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet.
b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.1.1 and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..
5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe
6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup.
a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u..
1. click on start
2. run
3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..

With the steps that I given to you, it was mention earlier that u used the pppoe, dhcp, but not static ip, if your computer is directly connected to the adsl modem it works perfectly. this is the specs of ur modem:
Supporting 1483B bridging and routing function Supporting DHCP server, NAT/NAPT , PAP/CHAP, IP Filter, Firewall, protocol block Built-in PPPOE/PPPOA dialing..

you can try two option:

1. your modem is equip of supporting dhcp server, if u can access ur modem and set it to bridge mode so that the dhcp server wont conflict with the router bcoz the router has a dhcp capabilities as well.
2. you need to disable the dhcp of the router so that the modem will act as the server and will give ip address to your computers..

this 3rd option will be your last solution if both dont work..

try to check the ip address of the modem, if the the ip address of the modem is 192.168.1.1 and the ip address of the router is 192.168.1.1 as well, connect your computer directly to the router and change the 3rd octet of the ip address, ex-192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 then your connecttion should be , the cable form the adsl model goes to the port 4 of the router and the router should be set on a dhcp settings..

I hope this solution will help you. good luck

if you have any querry pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck

Canont connect to the internet using my router

Good Day,

First thing to check on way you can't connect to the internet with your Router.

1) make sure that the Ethernet cable from the Modem is connected to the internet port or to the WAN port at the back of the Router.

2) check if the Router is the using using the PPPoE settings. if not make sure that your Modem is switch to bridge mode so that you can put in your PPPoE settings in the Router's GUI. or if your ISP don't want the PPPoE to be put in in your Router GUI then you have to bridge your Router.

3) make sure that your firewall settings is set to minimal so that it will not block your Router's program.

Good luck.

My ISP uses PPPoE, and we are unable to connect our Wii, to be able to view Netflix. I need to know how to bypass the PPPoE so I don't get the error message from our Wii.

PPPoe shouldn't effect it. You can however ask your ISP to Bridge your port and then you will have to bridge your modem. This is one way to bypass. What is the error message that you are getting? What setup do you have ie: hardwired modem with wireless router, modem only, or combo modem and router in one device? If the error message that you are getting with the wii ask for your PPPoe info you should ask your ISP what your Username and password is for the PPPoe setup. Hope that helps

How do i configure my dlink 302g modem to my new ISP's settings?

Hi Nitangel
Before proceeding with modem installation you need to gather your connection details from your Internet Provider. You will need to know or find out the following information about your new ADSL connection from your Internet Service Provider:

Connection Type:
PPPoE
PPPoA
Bridge RFC1483

Default IP address: 10.1.1.1 (USB 10.1.1.2)
Username: admin
Password: admin

· Username / password (PPP connections only)
· IP address / Subnet Mask / Default Gateway (Bridge connections only)
· DNS IP Addresses (optional)

To set up, log into the modem using your WEB browser: type http://10.1.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
Enter username 'admin' and
password 'admin' (default setting).

Go to Quick Configuration page.
Set Refresh Rate to "No Refresh".

If it is a PPPoE or PPPoA CONNECTION:
Select Operation Mode: PPP.
In the Connection Type drop-down menu select PPPoE or PPPoA profile.
Enter username and your password.
Select CHAP under Authentication Type (check with your ISP if not sure).

If it is a BRIDGED RFC1483 CONNECTION:
Select Operation Mode: Bridge. If you do not see "Bridge" options please update your modem's firmware at http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/
Select LLC or VC Mux as suggested by your provider.

Make sure your VPI/VCI is set according to your ISP requirements:

Click on "Save & Reboot" to save settings.

Then give modem a minute or two to reboot and reconnect. Restart your computer and you should be able to access the Internet.

You do not have to run any login client on your computer or router because your modem logs to your ISP automatically.

Hope this information helps if I can help further let me know.

Unable to install after 81 %

If the setup CD is unable to setup your modem/router (it is also called a "gateway") you can do the router configuration via the Web User Interface of the router. you will need ADSL settings such as:
a. Encapsulation mode. (typically PPPoA or PPPoE)
b. Multiplexing: (it can be LLC or VC)
c. Virtual Circuit Range.
d. Username & Password (ADSL UN/PW)

note: All of these ADSL settings should be provided/given to you by your ISP/ADSL provider. You can call your ISP for this settings.

just notify me if you will need further assistance doing this, but first make sure you have all the settings for ADSL.

I belive with this modem you will:
1.Access the interface, generally http://192.168.1.1/
2. Go to Advanced on the left.
3. Select WAN.
4. Now you may see several rows of info, look for the one that says PPPoE, and then click edit to the far right.
5. Select Next one time.
6. Here select "BRIDIGING".
7. Click next all the way to the end.
8. Reboot, after you clicked save of course.

This is how you bridge 98% of PPPoE providers with a similar paradign modem.

Of course the next device in line will have to provide your username and password for your DSL connection.

Hope this helps!
