Another cause maybe the software you're using for downloads.Try using a different software like
You Tube Downloader for the downloads.
Lastly,your browser.Try using updated browser versions for greater speeds.

Since you bought it last month, i assume that you have Win 7 32bit OS. Go to the following link, select the appropriate OS from drop down.

select camera from 'Category' drop down. download and install the drivers.
VOILA....done

Not quite sure how 'Last Christmas' is 2009. If you have downloaded the videos to your PC, there is certainly free editing and burning software available.

Try unistalling the software completely and re-install the updated software.

Otherwise, go get a memory card reader to download your images.

dowload new softwares suitable for your motorola mobile. They will be available in zip or tar.gz format.

After downloading from you mobile, there is option to install applications, go there and select the downloaded application and install it
