20 Most Recent Nikon COOLPIX P90 Digital Camera Questions & Answers

Two things can make a photo non sharp. 1) Bad focus and 2) Vibration while shooting. In general when hand holding a shorter lens your exposure should be 1/60 or faster. Your 7600 may have vibration reduction so it helps with point two.

If you use a tripod you control point two. if the photos are still blurry you either have the wrong focus mode set or possibly the lens is damaged or out of alignment. I cannot tell sitting here. Control Vibration and use a Tripod when in doubt.

There is a focusing issue with your lens focusing motor or electronics controlling it. Unless it is a very expensive camera it may not be cost effective for repair.

How about you read the manual carefully a few times and become conversant with the camera? Then I would advise using the camera for a month, and then read it again.

Check from page 8 onwards. Page 14 tells you that the Question Mark is Help, and how to access it.

I'm convinced you already did read the user manual. There are three things you can reset:
1. User settings. In menu mode P, you can undo all the settings you made. Page 69.
2. Reset all settings. Page 151 Menu settings, chose the wrench symbol and chose reset all. All settings will be restored to factory settings.
3. Reset file numbering. Page 154 Menu settings, chose the wrench symbol and chose reset file numbering.
In the same menu is also the view firmware version. Yours should read Coolpix P90 Ver.X.X .
The latest update of firmware for the P90 is 1.1 Great chance your camera came with that revision already. If you registered your camera with Nikon, they will inform you when a new firmware is released.
Really, there is nothing more you can reset on the camera.
So if something is wrong, it can't be helped with the reset you have in mind, because that reset does not exist.
If you want the firmware 1.1, goto Nikon USA and support. Everything you want is there.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Organize edit and share your photos .

If you've take photos and filled the card, you'll need to transfer them to a computer and then erase / format the card in the camera to free up the space on it. If that doesn't work - remove the card. With the contacts pointing up and away from you - looking at the label side - locate the tab on the left edge. Push it UP - away from the LOCK position. If it is loose, put tape on it and carefully reinsert into camera. Try to take pictures again.

Go to Nikon.com and download the parts manual and the repair manual. The parts should list an exploded view. This camera needs to be kept very clean as do most sensitive photography equipment. If you crafty perhaps you can clean and repair it. P.S. If you bought the camera recently you can Buy a warranty package through Visa after repairs are made. The rates are 1/3 the cost of most extended warranties. When you purchase any electronic equipment through Visa it doubles the manufacturers warranty. For example: My 600.00 laptop cost me $66.00 for an additional 4 year warranty. So with the 1 year, you get 2 if you pay with Visa, and 4 additional. Total 6 year warranty protection. Good luck I hope this solves you problem. Please post a solved comment on fixya, so I recieve credit for the solve. This will increase my ranking on fixya.com

I don't know of a menu option to lock the focus for multiple shots, but when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, focus is locked. Another feature that is available is manual focus.

It doesn't reset everything, but there is a "Reset All" command in the Setup menu. Press the MENU button, then the wrench and then "Reset All."
This reset leaves the date/time, white balance, language, and video mode alone.

If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
