Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
Well, im not totally sure what type of Phillips Magnavox Rear projection tv this is or even how old it is because we had bought it from a friend and it didnt come with any instruction manuals. I had problems with this television from the getgo. When my husband brought it home and we turned it on, it looked as if the pictures were coming out hazy (like there was a white haze) and bright. We tried to lighten the screen thru the menu options but, it just made the 'white haze' worse. Now we have a worser problem now, the screen went from white haze to green, blue, and red pictures. What i mean by that is everything onscreen has a blue, green and sometimes red shadow behind it, words, pictures, everything!! And the screens gone darker so now we dont know what to do!! Can someone tell me whether it would be worth it to have a repair guy fix my tv or to just trash it?! Thanks!
Have the coolant (glycol) in the CRT's....not as expensive as buying a new set...and sounds like it should be good as new if thats the only problem you have with it.

We had the same problem with the same model # tv. The repairman for magnavox told us that the problem is unfixable and be careful, with ours it eventually blew totally. The power board was putting out way too much electricity and blew a hole in the board. The repairman told us we were lucky we were there when it happened because it could have caught fire. We were told the problem is unfixable. The good news is that Magnavox has been good with trying to help us. Good Luck!! I hope this helps.

The haze may be the CRT Fluid going bad, this brand has problems with that over 5 years and older sets, the shadowing may be a failue of the convergence circuits, might be more affordable to purchase a new set for under $1000 of this size/ variety.
