After cleaning my Breeze and replacing the parts, it is now making a funny noise. Fan turns slowly at first then picks up, but doesn't seem to be as fast as not a lot of air seems to be moving.

SOURCE: fan is not turning on

The fan motor is probably locked up. You can either put a little oil to free it up (usually a temporary fix) or better yet replace the fan motor.

SOURCE: My air purifer seems to be frozen. It is plugged

Check all of the connections.
1) Make sure the back screen is installed so that the internal safety switch is depressed (it will click; you can see it in the slot on the bottom margin of the machine.)
2) If there is a toggle switch on the back of the machine, make sure it is in the "on" position. (On some machines, the toggle end with the "I" should be pressed. On other models, the little switch is not marked, but just leave the machine plugged in and the switch in front "on," and try moving the little switch in back.)
3) Make sure the plate is correctly inserted into the tracks, both top and bottom.
4) If none of this causes any movement, check the fuse in back. If it looks blown, replace it with one EXACTLY the same, usually found at an auto parts store.
5) If all fails, call the Vollara company (new name for EcoQuest) 1-800-989-2299. Ask for repairs. You can use #16618 as the Dealer referral number if you are no longer in touch with the registered distributor who sold you the machine. They will tell you your options.

SOURCE: My breeze AT seems to

That's a normal occurance. It happens when it senses that there's more pollutants in the air than normal.

Hi I've had my ionic breeze quadra silent air purifier for approximately 6/7 years. I must admit I haven't used it for approx 2/3 years as it does not light up. I changed the fuse but still...

Pull the element out and take a moist cloth and clean it out. After it is completely dry put it back in this should do the trick. If this helps please rate me and do a testimonial

I've had my AT Breeze since 2004 The fan motor is beginning to make noise. is there a fix or do I need a new motor?

Remove the front grid. Pull firmly but gently on the fan blades to remove them from the shaft. Turn the machine on its back, open front facing up. Use a light household oil (sewing machine, hair clipper, or 3-in-1) and squirt a small amount down the shaft, turning the shaft as you do so. You may need to do this several times, until you can feel the shaft move freely. If this doesn't help, your only option is to use the machine as a $100 trade-in credit for an upgrade. The new company, Vollara, is no longer manufacturing nor repairing the Breeze. (1-800-989-2299) Some dealers may still have Breezes in stock, and some may also have parts, but you'd have to locate them yourself.

Unit will sometimes make a crackling noise.

Mine does it too, I finally just tried something else when I was cleaning the blades. I took some alcohol on a qtip and with the blades out of the machine I wiped up and down the line wires that are inside that go from the top to the bottom, and also the little balls that are on the bottom of the wires that slide when you turn your unit upside down. It seems to work, I do it every time I clean the blades. scribner062

Our Eco-Quest Breeze no longer works. I cleaned

I've seen several like that and found the wire connections corroded off. Easy to fix if that's the case. Make sure the unit is UNplugged before taking it apart.

Ionic Breeze GP S1830 - makes a sizzeling noise

Funny you should post this when you did as I just finished reassembling my S1730.
Mine was making very loud noise, arcing violently, smoking slightly and would give a good shock when you touched the plastic covers(yes dirty plastic will conduct electric current).

1. Unplug the unit
2. Take the plastic covers off, front has four screws and back has snap at bottom, both slide up when loose.
3. Wash the plastic covers
4. take the light out and clean it with windex
5. Vacuum the inside, be careful of the two corona wires
6. Find the bead on each corona wire and while turning them slight so the edges scrapes the wire, move them back and forth to scrap the white power off the wires
7. scrape the cone shape plastic that the corona wires runs into, this build up is the primary culprit of the arcing which is the noise you hear. be careful of the corona wires again. I used an exacto knife and gently scraped it, sandpaper has been suggested elsewhere, once done scrapping, wipe down to clean any residue. The top cones are only part accessible, after cleaning mine the noise still persisted but acceptably lower than before. I think if you completely take apart the unit you can clean this cones better.
8. Reassembly is the same is opposite of disassembling.

Hopes this helps you.

Quit working blinking light above settings knob

These things may not SEEM to move air, but they do - slowly and steadily purifying the air and adding a negative ion charge to the air which helps the dirt in the air fall down and be captured during vacuum cleaning, sweeping, etc.

Describe your Sharper Image Professional Plus? Ionic Breeze® QUADRA? GP Silent Air Purifier Problem: We cleaned it, now it makes a noise. How long is the warranty? Any idea what the noise is? ...

Warranty on these units expired on the 30th of May, 2008 when the company's assets were acquired and liquidated by Hilco Consumer Capital, Gordan Brothers, and Bluestar Alliance. All warranties became void with the bankrupt status.

With regard to the unit that you cleaned, I am assuming that you cleaned it the usual way you always have and it is now making a statical noise or a vibrating kind of noise, correct?

While the unit is off, take out the insert, pick up the unit and turn it upside down. You will hear some beads moving from the elevated end moving towards the bottom. Turn it upside down again and let the beads move to the bottom again. After doing this a few more times turn it upright and put the insert back in. You just cleaned the static lines. Turn the unit back on and see if the noise is still present. If so, try cleaning the insert again and after drying, see if the noise is still present. It is usually some dirt present somewhere that causes the noise to persist. If you have completed everything and the noise still persists you need a new insert which you can get on ebay.

Making sizzling noise

Unfortunately Sharper Image has discontinued support on the product line.  There was a recall going on with the product but since the company is chapter 11 right now, I don't think it is being honored right now.
What happened was Consumer Reports ran a test on ionizers, Sharper Image received a bad score and filed a lawsuit.  They lost the suit and had to pay all legal bills.
EPA has reported that using ionizers in a house or business may be harmful to your health.  You can read an article about it on their website.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to release a final report on all ionizers by the end of the year.  Their decision may discontinue all sales of any ionizers in the United States.  This industry should have been regulated years ago just by the EPA data alone and for some reason it has been ignored.

The orange tape on the bottom of the ionization bars

There being two strips of orangey tape at the bottom of the rods wipe clean the two thin wires stretching the length of the ionic breeze each time you remove the filter elements to clean the filter. Seems like these wires may be emitting the audible high pitched noise if dirty.

Unit stopped smelling

Whenever you clean or replace the plate, you must also clean the contacts that touch the plate, and all supports for the contacts. Clean them with 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol and Q tips. You should also clean the ionization point with a Q tip and alcohol, remove and clean the fan and oil the fan motor front and rear with a drop or two of sewing machine oil. Replace the fan so that it is flush with the end of the shaft. Make sure that the contacts are firmly against the ozone plate when you replace it. They sometimes barely make contact and then don't work well. You can bend them enough to make them fit firmly.
