Can't turn subtitles off .Philips Durham remote lreland

there should be a button on the remote looks like two little cs. cc like that

there should be a subtiles button on the remote, it will scroll to on, language and off, you may have to press it a few times to get it to the off position.

It is in either the set or coming from the box you seem to be using---look in both menus---if no philips remote that CC got turned on somehow.............

I have direct tv, and had the same problem. After an hour on the phone with the worthless tech, I gave up. Finally I figured it out. First of all do you have closed caption problems or is it "subtitles". mine turned out to be direct tv subtitles, not closed caption. I hit the yellow button on the direct tv remote, and presto. Subtitles was set to the on position. changed it to off, and what do you know. fixed.

Try go menu on the tv control buttons on the front of the tv.Go the menu fine Captioning turn all off CC1,2,3 text 1,2 so on turn off all that should have no more subtitles.

Not a big mystery. You just need a remote that can turn them off, unless the panel buttons have a CC menu option.

Hmm... have you tried ontop of the remote where it has "tv" vcr" sat" etc...hit tv first then try the menu?and do you have satelite by any chance? because something similar happened to me when i had my old tv put upstairs and hooked up, the remote for it did not work so i had a universal and the tv was on "video 1" input the whole time and the universal remote didn not convert it back to tv so what i had to do was hook up the reciever to the "video 1" port instead of the "tv" input in the back...i hope you get it cause i know it can be a pain in the A$$
