Look at the task tray where the clock is. Look for a icon that looks like a webcam. Is there one?
If there isnt one you will need to install the Drivers and software that came with your webcam.
If you cant find it, reply with the brand and model number

If you have a WEB camera you need to configure your video Webcam settings. Open Skype click on Tools - Options - Video Settings - select your Webcam model.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.
If you still have problems with your mic. then - To test if the microphone is working, go to Start - Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and record you voice. Can you see your voice recording, the green line should vary as you speek.
If you see a flat green line, then the microphone is either faulty or the wrong microphone is selected.
Your webcam would be listed under Imaging Devices in the device
manager. If it is showing you an image when you use skype or yahoo
messenger then it is installed. Go into the webcam software to change
the settings on how it is projecting the image. You have to open the webcam software to activate or start
the webcam. There is no button to push or switch to turn on. The
webcam software is somewhere in the program list. Click Start/Programs then
search for any reference to webcam or camera. Sometimes the webcam might
be inside one of the manufacturers folders in the program list so search the
folders for it. Some manufacturers have something like Entertainment
Experience that will open and show all the entertainment devices such as the
dvd drive, webcam, media player, etc. if you see it click it to launch it
then click on the webcam or camera icon. You
can always download Manycam and install it. Go to www.google.com and in
the search box type: "download.cnet.com" (without the quotes).
Click on the link to go to the site. When the site opens look down on the
left and you will see a gray area that says Find Software. Type
"Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white search area then hit the
search mirror. When it brings back your results look for the one that
says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and install it. Make sure
you remove the check box on any junky programs it would like to install. You
only want to install ManyCam, no additions whatsoever during the install.
