DONT READ SOME DVD

Your laser is probably on its way out -- as a laser starts to fail, it will first stop reading PS2 games (but will read some DVD movies OK). It will then stop reading DVD movies and only play CDs. The laser in the dvd drive requires different strengths to read different discs. If its reading movies and not games then the laser is starting to go bad in it. You can either replace the laser if your tech save to open up the ps3 and opening up the dvd drive, or you can just get another drive to put in there. Either one you can get from Ebay fairly cheap.

thats because sony was *** and stopped making ps3's that could read ps2 discs. so in other words you cant. the said "they didnt see it was fit for it to have to play games." a load of **** i say! they were just losing money for having a blueray, dvd, and ps2 reading machine. so they decided to take out ps2 and not dvd? i dont get it cause we can rip dvd's to play as a video file, and then play it from that. sony doesnt think right i dont think, sorry. but you are out of luck

if it's a fat PS2 and
model SCPH 30001, SCPH 35001
(not including the models with an 'R' after the model #.

these models need the following to play DVDs:
- PS2 DVD remote with IR unit
- PS2 DVD disc player (sold with DVD remote w/ IR unit)
- PS2 memory card

you copied the DVD disc to the memory card. you used the memory card to play DVDs.

later models didn't need the memory card to play DVDs.

most of the movie if download from the net protected my different formating keeping people from burning and selling coppies. as long as your dvd play dvd is working fine. I got lots of those downloaded movies from a friend myself some play and some dont. I bet you if you go through most of your copy dvd some will play and some dont. Your sysytem may read some dvd VS mine may read some of your's that you system dont reads, you will not find a unit" DVD" will deformat the protection copy rights. I have 850.00 unit almost top of the line still wont read lots of copy DVD.

it appears to be your "Lens" problem...
Use a Lens Cleaning Solution to Clean the Dust over the Lens, Perhaps that might help...!

im assuming you have a dvd player in your car as opposed to a regular cd player

you need to look in the manual of your car stereo and see what kind of discs it can read... there are dvd+r, dvd-r, dvd-wr, dvd-ram, dvd-r (dual layer), etc, etc....

make sure your using the correct format disc and also make sure when you burn the music that your burning them in a file format compatible with your stereo (wmv, mp3, etc) check the manual

If your error message is reading "insert appropriate disk" or "inappropriate disk inserted" than I have the solution. Can you just let me know exactly what the message is?

need more info for help you but one question do you have a program for dvds? if not download "power dvd" from internet and may be this is the problem there are a lot of site to download for free if you dont have a disc..try this one......
