Alpine head unit CDA-9855R

Hi, i droped the face for the head unit on the floor, it didnt seem to be broken until i put it in, it plays music but the face does not work, none of the lights work, cant change the volume, track and it wont eject the CD, but it still plays music, my head unit always turns on when i plug it into the dash. can this problem be repaired, can i buy another face form alpine or do i have to buy the whole new system. thanks, kunal

hi there, i still havent sloved the problem. ive called up a few places and asked for quotes on repairs, most places said they will try to repair but might not be able to, they said that the best bet would be calling alpine, which i did and got a quote of £160 + VAT for a new face, price might have droped snice then, i may call them back in a few weeks, you can get there number from there web site. kunal

Yes, I'm sure Alpine will sell you another face but there is still the option of repairing the broken face at a good repair shop. Of course getting a new face is the easiest (read most expensive) way to get you going again.

Hi, paul, ive had no luck in repairing the problem, if it still plays DONT RESET IT!!! this will turn the unit off totally,
ive brought a whole new face plate from alpine for £135, should be cheaper now, the head unit is worth it, i didnt want another unit as my whole car set up around this one,

If you press down on the middle of the glide touch and hold it for 3 seconds that should get the faceplate to reset. and if that doesn't work their is a reset button on the faceplace just above the volume control

How do i get my Alpine CDA 9885 head unit out to fit a sub???

Remove the face, and trimring plastic.
There are slots on either side that you put the Alpine unlocking keys into (came with your headunit new) then slide the chassis out.
If you don't have keys - you can use a small allen wrench - or buy them at best buy etc.
A local alpine dealer will probably let you borrow his keys as a good business practice.
