I got the alpine cda 7892 head unit. I hooked it up and it powered up just fine. It reads every cd I put in and plays through the speakers crystal clear. The only problem is that the rotary knob doesn't work. I can press it and bring up the sub menus BUT I can't adjust the volume or anything else that involves me hanving to TURN the knob. Any suggestions??

hook up the ground and twist the red and yellow together and hook that up to a wire off the battery then try and see if the head unit comes on quick way to check and see if the deck will come on works for me. hope this helps,
If the sound is coming out clearly with the radio on, then there is a problem with the cd drive or its connections. If your stereo has aux. inputs, you could run an mp3 player until your ready to replace it.
just run the rca wires from the back of your radio to your amp as well run a direct power wire from your battery to your amp then run a ground wire somewhere on your cars metal surface look for a bolt that you can loosen to whrap the wire around then run a wire from your fuse box tap into a fuse socket that is only powered when the ignition is on you can buy a complete amp wireing kit at pepboys or walmart that will come with instructions good luck....
Hve you checked the mute button??? if so then it needs to see a pro as this is a great unit so it should be serviced only by a great tech. I simply love the alpine seris!!!!!great choice in car audio man!
Certainly, the output IC might need to be replaced, also check to see if there is a factory amp somewhere in the car.
Additionally, double-checking the wiring is a must.
How long does it take for the unit to heat up?
