Check the antenna connection for firmness. Check the set with other inputs like VCR or DVD. Check and replace the tuner.

the protection circuit is being engaged This is often due to a faulty component that heats up quicly and sets the sensor off. It turns off to prevent fire, so maybe don;t turn it on and get it fixed.

I HAVE A SANSUI TV MODEL DTV2798 AND THE VCHIP IS ACTIVATED. I DO NOT HAVE THE CODE. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE?

Sansui model dtv2798 shuts off after one minute

Since the TV comes On, like you mentioned on your post above

it could be from a failing power supply or from other circuits.

Could be dried or bad capacitors , or just maybe cold solder joints.

It sounds as if the color controller/circuit board is becoming sensitive and may soon disconnect. Don't be surprised if someday soon, the picture goes very dark or vanishes completely. Have a technician check it out with his test equipment to locate the exact problem.
