try to remove the cartridge and print it again. Try also to unplug/replug the USB and restart your printer to check if it prints. You may also use another pc to connect the printer and print. Otherwise call Canon to check it for a possible repair...

Yes You need proper USB/Paralel cable in order to use ur printer.

i think u already solved your problem...your printer's problem is its printer head...u cannot solve this problem by fixing it yourself.all u can do is to buy new printer head at printer's shop. it is true because i got the same problem with my BJC 200.i do the same solution as u r and lastly, i go to the technician and he said i need to replace my printer head at some price.....just think bout money n i discover that buy a new one is better(as for my problem)

not to discourage u, but try to plan either to buy new printer head or buy a new printer....

YES. THERE ARE SEVERAL USB-PARALELL CABLES CABLES IN THE MARKET. JUST CHECK IN THE WEB OR YOUR HARDWARE STORE. PRICE SHOULD BE AROUND 15 TO 20 US DOLLARS, DEPENDING ON BRAND, QUALITY, ETC.
SOME OF THE (MOST) BRIG A DRIVER CD.
ONE THING YOU SHOULD HAVE IN MIND IS THAT WHEN INSTALLING YOU BJC-80 IT WONT PRINT UNLESS YOU GO TO PRINTER PROPERTIES, PORTS AND UNMARK "BIDERECTIONAL COMPATIBILITY", THE GO TO ADVANCED OPTIONS AND CHECK ON "PRINT DIRECTLY TO THE PRINTER", OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. (SORRY ALL MY SOFT IS IN SPANISH...) RESTART THA COMPUTER AND ENJOY. I HAVE A BJC-70 AND A BJC-80, USE THEM ON XP SP2 AND VISTA. BOTH WORKING FINE. DO NOT EXPECT SPEED PERFORMANCE. GOOD LUCK

Click on the "Drivers & Downloads" tab. Select your operating system from the dropdown menu. (Windows 98)

Click on the red link for the driver BJ_v397.exe.

When the download window opens, select "Save" and select a location you know how to access after the download. For an easy way, save it to your Desktop.

After the download, connect the printer, turn it on. Then run (doubleclick) the file you saved.

BJC-80, USB to PARALLEL cable & XP problem solved! I read all the comments, instructions, etc. and was ready to give up, but posed the problem to my son (who has a computer repair business, duh), and I'm not sure I have this correct he simply Dis-abled the bi-directional communications in the set up, gave the cable and printer a designated USB port, got the driver for the BJC-80 ... not BJC-85 ... and it works fine. I do not have the scanner cartridge but I have 2 BJC-80s and love them but gave up when got the new computer. Well, I just ran off 2 pages after cleaning the cartridges and cartridge holder with alcohol on TP, because they had dried up hard, and it works great in both B&W & color, at least on draft mode so far. (My son will not post anything because he does not want a bunch of calls coming in, and I don't know any more, but I just could not bring myself to give up these great little printers for on the go Realtors, etc. without another good old college try). Glad to have my printers back! Good luck.

There is no driver available for your printer on Windows XP, the only drivers on google are either viruses or spyware software, do not install any of them.
