You will likely need to reference your instruction manual for that specific control panel.

William, you or a plumber will have to replace the cartridge and seals to stop the leaks. The parts may have life time warranty, check your manual if you still have it. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

The 12RESL has no user setup. That's part of lower cost on the DC 2200 controller versus an ADC 2100 or ADC-RES controller that came with the 12 / 17 / 18 RES models. Here is a link for the ADC 2100 Operation / Installtion manual though. http://www.scribd.com/doc/60318571/Kohler-8-5-12RES-Install

Can't search for a manual without model, type, serial, etc numbers...

A few things to take a look at:

1) Oil level / pressure sending unit. This is normally bypassed as long as the start switch is pressed. When engine starts, and switch is released, engine will die if sending unit is defective, or you are low on oil.

2) Exhaust temperature sensors. Older units were notorious for burning these up.

3) Cooling Water Temperature sensor. These cause trouble often, but mostly due to water pump impeller being eaten away by galvanic action and not able to pump water as effecively. End result is water temp higher than normal, which trips the switch, which kills the engine.

4) Alternator (generator) output not as it should. If output doesn't rise to proper level within a few seconds of engine start, the engine will be shut down.

5) Choke not working as it should

6) Bad fuel, bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter.

Do you know the part number on the board. Kohler used numbers written with permanent marker on their controls boards. They usually started with a letter like A or B.

You might have a * 297373 or *297375. They usually had a big orange relay that stuck up in the middle.

The filter capacitors would always dry out over time and relays wouldn't energize correctly.

Depending on the board we might have a drawing.

I have a troybilt tiller with a K161T Kohler 7 horsepowe engine. I have replaced all electrical components, spark plug, points, condenser, stater, all wiring, and cleaned magnets, but to no avail. I still have no spark. The points open and close properly, the plug is gapped correctly. Does anyone have an idea?
