SOURCE: 2000 3.8 Impala keeps overheating even after

Sounds like there could be an air pocket in your cooling system. If the job was done by a mechanic take it back. If a "friend" helped you, tell him to rebleed the system. Also seems like your water pump might be bad. If it was overheating before changing the thermostat and is still doing the problem only worse then I would assume the pump needs to be changed. If the pump is bad, there is no doubt that air is in the system still and causing the overheating to occur even faster.

SOURCE: 2000 chevy lumina. Is fan supposed to come on when car started

no fan comes on when engine cold start up .but it will come on when you turn on air conditioning or defrost on .if engine idling a while when temp get 190 degree the fan will kick on.if over heating you got air in system .wait until cools check coolant add more .crank engine let it idle few. minutes when start warming up turn off engine wait a while before removing radiator cap so you wont get scald.add more coolant .crank it again starting warming up turn off engine wait a while .add coolant .keep doing this procedure until your coolant stop dropping off .if you do this more than 6 times you got a leak some where.check crank level for signs.if oil level higher than normal.if everything looking good.when engine cool make sure add coolant to over flow jug cold level mark.

SOURCE: 2002 Chevy Impala low coolant light is on

I had this same problem with my 2002 3.4L engine impala. Unfortunately, there was a coolant leak at the lower-intake manifold, caused by a cracked gasket. I replaced the gasket, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs and wires and flushed out the heater coil. Didn't find out what it was until after spending 100s on Dex-Cool. I kept refilling it for months until I got a good mechanic to fix the problem whom told me that this is a common repair on older impalas and GM vehicles with 3.4 and 3.1 engines.

SOURCE: my 2000 impala will not

I had a Nissan doing this to me a little while ago, but couldn't figure out the problem. A couple weeks later, the lady told me she took the car to a shop and they replaced the crank and cam sensors. My bet is that it was the crank sensor.

many possible causes. sounds all too much like a crank sensor failing. when it dies, does it act like you shut key off, (instant stall)? or does it sputter and cough, then stall out? seen this same situation and problem many times in my shop and a cranksensor fail can be hard to catch when it fails. most likely cause.

My 2000 pontiac grand prix is smoking. I added coolant and oil. It overheats right away. What's the problem? Oh yeah...it just started doing it today.

they are known for bad head gaskets and intake gaskets, have it diagnosed at the shop and don't drive it or you can do serious damage to the engine.

Sugary burning smell while driving

That smell is most likely antifreeze. If the smell gets noticeably stronger when you turn on the AC/Heater, it is possible that your "heater coil" has started leaking. You will need the services of a professional if that is the case. Those are very hard to change.

Another possibility is your thermostat is not opening, causing your engine to overheat - steaming some of the coolant (antifreeze)/water mixture out of the system.

And thirdly, it is possible that someone spilled antifreeze on the radiator etc when adding fresh antifreeze - and you smell it after the engine warms up. If your car is not over-heating and you are not having to ad antifreeze/water to the radiator, then just keep driving. The problem will most likely go away.

I hope this is helpful to you. If yes, please take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

Thinking it's a pass code fault(ignition switch)
There is no chip in the key,the computer looks for the proper rotation of the switch, had the same thing happen,
Should be able to start it if you crank the engine for a few seconds, release the starter and DON"T turn the key off, wait 10 minutes, crank it again, should start.
If not do the procedure again(had to do it 3 times on mine)
This is the relearn procedure that also has to be run after the switch is replaced(with a new key also)

2000 chevy impala starts shaking at 50mh buts stops at sixty and drives on higher speeds just fine. Already had it balanced three times what else could it be?

You may have a wheel bearing that needs to be replaced. You may also have a bad CV joint which are on the ends of your front drive axles. Make sure that one of your wheels is not bent. You may also have a damaged tire but the person who balanced your tires should have checked for this. A good repair shop should be able to check these things for you if you don't know how to.
