Iriver e100 has frozen on firmware upgrade screen

on the side of the mp3 player above the lock switch is a very small reset button. it can be pressed using a paper clip, a safety pin, the post of an earring, mechanical pencil led, or something else of similar width and length. press and hold this button until the screen goes blank. it may turn back on itself, or you may need to manually turn it on. it should be fine now.

In the top page right corner enter "E100" and all support for the E100 player shows up.
Click on the required New Firmware e.g. latest version 1.22 to get more information ( sep 25, 2009 ).
Next click
"-. Customers who purchase E100 can upgrade their players either
by Firmware updater or Iriver plus3".

A page shows up for how to download and install the firmware.
Right click the firmware updater
and select "save target as...", for a place to save the installer.


Getting Iriver plus 3:
In the left column of the support page select Plus 3. Next left click Download iriver PLUS3 and save the execute file iplus3.exe .

Going to the iriver USA support page, searching for downloads, might give the required information, see:

Select Downloads or GO next to it and say OK to the pop up moving from the USA to the global site.
In the second column beneath ALL PRODUCT put the word e100 in the bar and click the Enter key or click GO.
The first page ( 1 ) opens with firmware upgrades. The latest upgrade date SEP 25, 2009 version 1.22, see next link:

See the numbers 1 2 3 close to the second column turned 90 degrees
clockwise for further downloads:
e.g. number 2 and next User manual of E100, for the manual download. Select your language for the download in zip format.

When the download is blocked in the explorer and next allowing downloads in the top page, iriver will turn backwards to the previous page.
Repeat putting e100 in the bar, select number 2 and the required download again.

try another pc and upgrade to another version like the latest one oput now is 1.21 GU

well you should buy an iriver e100 because there firmware is always updated and using the iriver firmware updater and the iriver e100 can play videos and view pictures and can record the radio it is a flash mp4 player

the firmware before must of corrupted and has made unreadable and undeletable an thats why it has froze during the firmware upgrade process

Let the power run out. the same thing happened to me. unfortunately the firmware upgrade didn't take effect but i'm about to do it again now

Software / Media Transfer The E100 comes packaged with a disc containing iriver plus 3 media player, firmware updater, video converter, and Windows Media Player 11. If you have owned an iriver player, you are familiar with this software with the included iriver media player. This is a standard media player much like any other but has a few features catering to the iriver family of players, such as a firmware updater, ebook txt manager, and video converter. This media player is a bit different from Windows Media Player but still is straightforward and easy to use. If you don’t care for iriver’s media player you can always use any other MTP based media player to manage playlists and load your E100 since also included on the disc is a video converter and firmware updating utility.
If you don’t like to use media players to transfer the E100 will allow you to select either MTP or MSC transfer mode. This means it is drag and drop and also compatible with any OS. Drag and drop will work fine in MTP mode as well, but only if you are using Windows XP SP2 or Vista.
