I have a acer laptop that I let my son use and I've noticed that it is very slow and also it gets very hot. What do you think the problem is?

I wanted to know what makes a laptop load very slowly? And also what makes them hot.

If there are a lot of undeleted files in the cache memory, it slows down the computer. Also if there are a lot of programs that load on startup, that also makes it slow. A large number of files on the desktop also reduces the speed of a laptop to some extent. It is getting hot because the processor fan cannot coll it fast enough. If you run a number of programs simultaneously, that also slows down the computer speed. Finally, the age of the laptop also matters. What you can do to speed up it is use n utility called "disk cleanup", which may significantly increase the speed of the laptop.

Dear Kristen,
1. Your laptop is running slow because there are too many applications running in the background. Go through the start menu and remove them if you don't need them.
2. Defragment your hard disks. Use a tool such as O & O Defrag Pro.
3. Your Acer heating up is a normal issue. Some older acer laptops heat up quite a lot. This is not an issue in laptops purchased after 1/1/2010.
If you are worried, get your laptop checked and serviced by a qualified technician or just simply hand it over to the nearest service center.

SOURCE: compac cq70 pesario ,is it a good laptop?IM HAVING PRBLMS WHT IT!

Go to the control panel and adjusted the speed rate of the keyboard to its max speed meaning: repeat delay: short (drag to the right most knot)
repeat rate: Fast (right most also).
Make sure you have the updated driver for your motherboard for once try uninstalling and then installing your VGA driver. Run SmitFraud Fix to make your laptop work faster http://www.afterdawn.com/software/desktop_software/desktop_security/smitfraudfix.cfm
For some it was a battery problem, try removing the battery and then start using the adapter [without the battery]. Make sure you do a regular disk cleanup and use disk defragmenter for C drive.START--ALL PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--DISK DEFRAGMENTER/DISK CLEANUP.
It's not the facebook,it could be any program that makes your laptop slow. The more programs running on your laptop means that laptop is getting slower.

SOURCE: the laptop gets hot and runs slow

Two possible solutions to your problem are:

Buy a cooling pad to elevate and flow air around/through your laptop's base.

Use the laptop on a hard, flat surface, and elevate it slightly if possible.

SOURCE: ACER ASPIRE 3750G 13.3", reformat.

Hello,

You didn't mention which version of (I assume Windows) you are using or are wanting to use.

Generally when you want to reformat the hard drive on a machine it involves re-installing the operating system also. A freshly formatted hard drive has nothing on it and so the computer won't boot.

Here is what you need to do:

You will need an installation disk for what ever version of Windows you plan to run.

Also you should have a drivers disk for your machine. This is not absolutely necessary but is by far the easiest way to deal with the drivers.

Place the Windows installation disk in the CD/DVD drive and reboot the machine. Read the messages provided on screen. When you get to the point where the installation program asks you if you want to create a new partition on your drive select yes. It will also allow you to delete the old partition. You want to choose that option and then install Windows in the new partition.

After the Windows installation is complete you will need to install drivers for your machine. If you have the drivers disk for your machine put it in the CD/DVD drive and select 'Install All Drivers' from the menu. (You can purchase a drivers disk for your machine from Acer, or elsewhere on the web.)

If you do not acquire a drivers disk for your machine you will have to download them one at a time from Acer. You may or may not be able to download them all.

SOURCE: Hi! I've bought a brand new Asus laptop and

Hi maruthusumi

Resource file C_SpURsDll not found - SYSTEM FILE CORRUPTION

If in doubt about any aspect of this advice, please feel free to add a Comment or Clarification to this Question. If so, please include information about the model and specification of your computer. Doing so helps us makes faster, more accurate and more assured Remote Diagnostics leading to better quality and more useful Advice, Answers, Guidelines , How-Tos and Solutions.

You also don't say how you installed the Applications, particularly if any of them were downloaded from the internet. If so, the download might have been, corrupt, incomplete or malware infected. Another potential source of corruption to System Files are corrupt, incomplete Updates downloads or interrupted Updates configuration processes.

It would appear that there has been some corruption to your Windows 7 64-Bit System Files.

The first issue to consider is whether all the Applications installed are 64 Bit or 64 Bit compatible. If not, uninstall the applications, but first you have to resolve the problem.

I suggest:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > select a highlighted date on the calendar to the left and an event in the event schedule to the right that both precede the error > Restore > Restart PC.

You can only safely install MS Office from a genuine MS Office Disc or download it from an Authorised Access, Multi-user Licensed ISO File on an office server. FTP Client Applications are the same. Safe, reputable, reliable online download sources abound, such as www.acebit.com.

If System Restore does not clear the problem and any applications were downloaded from the web, try running antivirus and antispyware scans to purge any infection found.

If none of the above works you might have to Restore to Factory Default Settings and install your Applications carefully again.

I hope this helps.

I have a compaq c60 laptop. a couple days ago the laptop would turn itself off and when i would to reboot it, it would only last a couple of seconds. i noticed its really hot right above and below the fan...

Hello, well, if the fan is stalled, then it really needs to be replaced as it will still be consuming power and getting HOT...which is really not good for a laptop as there is little natural air flow within the case anyway. Actually, I've seen those sort of laptrays with a built-in fan, and I think they're a really good thing to have, bearing in mind if you're running the laptop on battery then it'll drain the battery quicker! But have one IN ADDITION to a normall fully-functioning laptop, not as a substitute for a failed internal fan. I advise get that fan replaced asap before you cook something vital (and expensive) in the laptop. Kind regards, nicam49

Acer Travelmate 4270

ive got the same model. mine gets damn hot too. especially after about 4hrs you can barely type on it or use the mouse pad.
i sent it back as soon as i got it. acer replaced the fan and said it was fine. 4hrs later it was running as hot as before. they probably did nothing but waste my time for 2 weeks. just poor design i spose. poor cooling system poor design. i also noticed the fan air vent is on the right hand side. again poor design, most people are right handed. getting hot air blown on your hand when using an external mouse, during a hot summer day is not pleasant. dont think ill buy an Acer again
