GEAR PROBLEM please help me..my name is jay from nigeria and i have a volks passat 2004,1.8 engine.the car jerks when the speedometer gets to 40 whenever am driving and same applies when i change my gear to P or R. NEED URGENT ASSISTANCE

you may need a new torque lock up
the torque lock up makes the car changes gears smooth and easy
this may be your problem

Run fault codes and look for a faulty TCM unit. THE TCM will also put on the engine light and affect the speedometer operation . Running the fault codes will also identify the sensor associated with the ABS unit.. Seeing as to how you have just bought the car (possibly from a corner used car dealer) I would advise a pressure test done on the transmission to check for the condition of the transmission and have an oil change and the bands and clutch packs adjusted

Auto Gear problem of VW Passat

I think that the automatic transmission fluid is at a low level?
When its cold the oil will be still stuck to gears, but after is warms it flows off.
