My phillips magnovox 60p8241 has no video or audio.PLease Help Me

Well I plug in my television and turn on the power button, I hear the power relay turn on and the power indicator light turns on too. I just cant hear any audio and only a horoizontal thin line runs across the screen, either on the top or the bottom of the screen, but just for a micro second, more like a flash. other times I can sort of make out like 4 inch lines across the sceen but the lines don't run all the way through mostly like a bad dirty video trying to play. very dim video so i cant see it unless its dark or a blanket is thrown over the screen.remember no audio either and I cant tell what channel it's in either.

SOURCE: green dot in middile of my screen

The green dot in the center sounds like a burn mark on one or more of the picture tubes inside the set, and the curved lines are telling me that you have a problem in the convergence circuits. The blue haze around everything white tells me you either have a lot of dust build up on the lens over the CRTs, or your picture tube(s) are very weak. If this set is over about 12 years old, I would replace it. I doubt if you will be able to get the green dot out of the picture without changing the tubes which would be VERY expensive.

SOURCE: Phillips 32PT6441/37 32 Inch Screen / Power problem

I fixed this very problem several times on this set. You must check some parts and, if bad, replace them correctly and safely. I can tell you what to look for for a small cash fee, but I don't know how this works on this site.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

SOURCE: green hazy lines across my projection tv screen

The coolant in between the CRT face and the focus lens has probably become discolored and would need to be drained, cleaned and refilled. The green CRT is the center one and it would have to be romoved in order to refill it.

I have a 60in phillips magnovox rear projection tv model number 9P6040 C104. The green power light comes on but I have no video/audio. And it makes a chirping type sound. Could someone please gice me some...

Your problem seems to be convergence. This has to do with the video/ audio. If your Tv has no video/ audio and make a chirping sound when you turn on the TV, the problem is within the convergence chips. The symtoms you describes gets to the heart of your tv issue. However your tv can be fixed and it does not have to cost you an arm and one of your legs. If you think you can tackle this repair by doing it yourself then I suggest giving it a go. You can order the kit (audio/video)repair kit/chirping. The cost is reasonable, $68.00. It comes with all the replacement parts and thorugh instructions to guide you through the process. Give it some thought if you think you can fix the tv, if not have a professional do the job. Good Luck.

My philips ts2554 tv keeps turning off need tech help.

Your power supply is gone. There is only one option. Sell it for scrap and get a new TV. They don't make parts for this TV anymore. Phillips/Magnovox has discontinued it and all parts.
