Split Screen on TV - How do I get rid of this?

Sony KP-61V75 - Screen is split but cannot find a split screen button on remote and menu does not give an option to change. How can I get rid of the split screen? I have tried every button on my remote and have also tried unplugging the TV...waiting a few minutes...and then plugging it back in and turning it back on. Please help!

Can you provide a picture of what the Sony is displaying? you may be in a demo mode.

I took a photo but it doesn't look like there is an option for me to post it. Basically, the screen is divided into two screens...side by side...horizontally. There are two frames/screens so you can change the "input" on each of them and even show the same image on both screens at the same time. There is a grey space both above the two frames and below the two frames, so the two screens are much smaller than the full-size screen. I have tried the PIP button, the input button, menu options, turning the TV off and on, using a "tools" button, a "guide" button, an "exit" button and nothing allows me to get rid of the split screen.

This is a typical bad CRT. The blue CRT part number is 8-733-647-25 but they are no longer available. It is not uncommon for this eventually to happen to the other CRT's as well. The only fix is to have a technician pull the defective CRT and have it sent to a company called VDC for rebuilding.

How to split the screen to look at 2 channels.

try looking under your TV's menu, find the pip or split option and set them up, then on your remote, you should have a pip/split button..see if you can now watch tv with pip or split. If you need more help please be more specific about what the tv is doing when you push those buttons on the remote etc.

TV repair

It's probably a power problem--expect $200-$400 to get it fixed. This is not a do it yourself as there are extremely high voltages involved. A technician can come to your house for around $65 and diagnose the problem. Usually they can remove the board(s), fix them in the shop, then reinstall.
