Error code 9:dd or IP:G8 in GE Clock Radio from 1990s

My GE Clock is from the Mid 1970s and still going strong.

Here is the fix, which coincidentally mentions the Fixya Website. He didn't want to register to post a question with the answer.

Fixing a clock radio saying "1P:G8" or "IP:G8"? - anthrofox.org

anthrofox.org http://www.anthrofox.org > projects > ge_7_4612b
GE clock radios frequently used the Texas Instruments TMS3450NL chip to operate the clock. The "1P:G8" or "IP:G8" error code is NOT documented in the datasheet ...

I have a CKS3030 Smart Set alarm clock and I

This is a problem in the led display driver circuits. The circuit may have developed some problem with cold solder joints due to heat and vibration problem. The problem could also be in the led's driver circuits that supply power to the leds display for operation. This type of problem should be handled by a qualified service technician. You can call Emerson customer support at this telephone number. 1-800-909-1240. Between the hours of 8am-4:30pm CT. Give them the make and model number of your Clock/Radio and ask them for assistance. I hope this information helps you understand your problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day.

FM/AM GE Digital clock radio model#7-4966 display bulb burned out

Geri, I recently had the same problem with my GE model 7-4966 clock radio. The radio manual states that there is a spare bulb included and stored on the underside of the battery compartment door on the bottom of the clock radio. To replace the bulb: 1. Twist the bulb bar handle on the underside of the radio to unlock and remove the holder. 2. Carefully pull the bulb out of the holder and replace with the spare bulb. 3. Place the holder back in place, twist the bar handle to the right to "lock" the bulb holder in position.
In case you can't find a spare bulb, the manual states "use only a GE259 or equivalent 6.3 volt, wedge base bulb. A clerk at Radio Shack told me she could get a replacement bulb.
