Hey, I recently bought a copy GTA 4 for Xbox 360 and it freezes on the first credits screen. It's like the entire console shuts down because I can't even get to the Xbox dashboard. And I don't think that it's my console overheating or anything because the thing is cool to the touch when the problem occurs. This has also yet to happen to other games. The GTA 4 disk has no scratches or smudges, nothing to make it do this. PLEASE HELP ME!

I do believe its a problem with the disk. The disk may not be scratched or anything but it could possibly something internally wrong with it. I'd take the disk back and exchange it. Hope this helped! Have a great day!

Hi Mattrobi8886, It sounds like your console is heading for a 3 red light error, I know from experience that freezing is not good and probably means there is trouble on the way.
Adding extra cooling to the XBOX or doing an X-Clamp replacement fix works in these situations. Getting the console apart is pretty straight forward and is quite easy, I've done it plenty of times, visit the Tutorials sections here http://360solutions.eamped.com/ for instructions on taking the 360 apart.
xbox-scene.com also have allot of X-Clamp tutorials. I hope this helps in some way, leave me a message on the forum if you need more pointers.
Please rate if at all useful, thanks!

Mocrosoft only entended the warranty on the "ring of death" issue which was hardware related to overheating. They did not extend the warranty to any other issues. DVD/CD emulators and the games emulators are handled by different software.
You can try a factory reset of the console...
Before trying this, it's highly recommend that you remove all hard drive and memory cards. Once you've removed all hard drives and memory cards, navigate to the systems tab in the main menu and select the “Initial Setup” option. Once you select the option, it will ask you if want to run the initial setup that occurred when you first started your console. Say yes and it will do its thing. When it asks for a memory card/hard drive, just decline and it should be done. You should see the default dashboard screen as confirmation that it did, in fact, rerun initial setup.
Resetting to factory defaults / resetting parental locks
This might work only with older versions of Xbox 360 dashboard.
Press the following key combination
Left Trigger, Right Trigger, X, Y, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, Up, Left Bumper, Left Bumper, X
This should give you a dialogue asking whether or not you want to reset your system to factory default settings.
If none of this works contact Microsoft and see if the console is still under warranty. If not they will repair it for usually 99.00

I already had the rrod and have had alot of experence with microsofts evil. I bought a used Xbox 360 from eb games and 4 months later rrod struck. Then exactly a month later it stopped and I went to eb games and asked about it. They said that sometimes it overheats and fixes it'self. So I bought some games. The next morning it strikes again and dos'nt fix it'self. I find the X-clamp fix online and try it out. It took me two days work and a lotta money but I got everything I needed and opened the thing up. But inside was the worst thing of all. The X-clamp fix had already been done to my X-box. For those who don't know this fix is only temperary and the rrod will return in approximately 4 mounths. In other words Eb games repaired a broken console with a temperary solution and tried to pass it off as okay. Since then I have been boycotting Eb games and encouraging others to also. I have found others with the same problem from the same company.
