Fan just circulates air instead of exhausting the air outside

Our over the range microwave blows all the air out the top of the microwave back into the house instead of exhausting it to the outside via the duct connected to the top of the unit hidden in the top cupboard above the microwave. I took the duct off of the top and checked the damper and its fine and the duct is connected to the outside.

The exhaust motor was not installed properly - it has to be turned 90 degrees so that the blower openings face up instead of the front. Whoever installed it didn't read the directions:)
Unfortunately, the unit will have to be taken down from the wall to correct the motor.

When turning Fan on (any speed), top vent grille blowing lots of air, but not pulling air underneath

some microwaves vent to the exterior. check outside for a vent. If it is a recirculating model, perhaps the filters are plugged, the vent pathway is blocked (packaging material) or a loose panel at the back so that the exhaust fan air is leaking out somewhere else. I don't know what else it could be unless the fan is loose on the motor shaft and the fan motor is running but the fan blades are not moving air.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 vent fan doesn't pull air from beneath

On the exhaust system (top of unit) there is a small metal 'damper' that is most likely stuck shut. If that is all clear then you have a problem in the duct work of the home.

Have whirlpool gold accuwave micro hood combo model# GH51884XPS5

The inspector is correct, air should be coming through the top louvers, although you sometimes will have a little air coming from the sides and back. Drop the microwave and see which way the blower is rotated, towards the louvers or towards the back or top. Some units also have a panel that blocks the venting from going the wrong way. Exhaust fan doesn't work and blows air from top vent

Some microwaves have a adjustable fan. We have one that you can vent out the back, the back top or through the front top filters. The latter is what it sounds like you have. If you take the small back panel off and lift out the fan motor you'll see that you can place it in the direction you like.\\

Blower motor on above stove microwave not running

The dual fan in the back is the vent / exhaust / hood fa. It will run when you turn it on, or if the stove top gets too hot.

The other fan is the magnetron cooling fan, and it will only run when you are cooking. If it is not running, your magnetron can be destroyed.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here. That may help you a lot.

Noise of microwave exhaust fan

You can remove the exhaust turbine unit with one screw and reinstall microwave and buy a braun external exhaust unit that fits over the hole where it is at the roof or wall and all of the noise will be outside and it will actually work. It is weather proof and will **** steam or fumes out like the best vacuum cleaner.

Microwave oven exhaust fan

The Intake is gentle. It is not designed to have a great pull of air from the Cook Top.

TEST: Turn Exhaust Fan ON
Hold a sheet of your printer paper up to the INTAKE GRILLE (bottom). Will the sheet of paper stay? Held up only by the suction? If it does, Air Intake is OK.

Exhaust fan

The fan pulls from the range top and either out those vents on top unless there is a vent in your upper cupboard. Then it is vented outside. Hope this helps.
