Best buy techs installed year and half ago no problems. Installed per instruction w/no outside exhaust venting. Unit comes factory installed w/air deflector set to recirculation mode and no need to rotate deflector due to no exhaust. Selling home and home inspector noted that "kitchen exhaust fan in microwave is not venting out of the front lovers as designed. The air is coming from behind and flowing through the sides. The microwave ventilation needs to be properly installed."
I went on whirlpool website and pulled up installation manual and it seems it was installed correctly. Should air come from sides and behind as inspector noted vs out of front louvers at top of micro?
The inspector is correct, air should be coming through the top louvers, although you sometimes will have a little air coming from the sides and back. Drop the microwave and see which way the blower is rotated, towards the louvers or towards the back or top. Some units also have a panel that blocks the venting from going the wrong way. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
