Seagate external hardrive

I always use my external hardrive for my pc. however, at college we work with Apple and i took the external hardrive to show teacher some work. Now, when i plug it back on my pc at home it doesn't work. it asks me to format but if i do that i've been told i lose all data on external hardrive. is there another way of making it work again on my pc?

Try to plug it into more than 1 computer other than your PC. If it works, then the problem is the interface between the hard drive and your computer and if it really doesn't work, you're solution is have it recover by data recovery experts. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind, on taking your first steps in such a situation: Do not open the hard disk and try to repair it on your own. If you're data is really, very valuable, don't use automatic data recovery tools. Before you bring it, wrap the defective units in anti-static envelope if possible, bubble wrap it, and seal package securely. You also had an option to recover it on your own by using known data recovery software but it's risky compared if you bring it to a data recovery experts. If the problem is within the mechanical parts of a hard drive, there's a possibility that you will not attain a 98% chance of recovery if you do it on your own.

I connect my seagate external hardrive to my xbox to store some data on it because my xbox does not have an internal hardrive. So i figured i can use my portable external hardrive to my xbox, and it said i...

Either you have 50 gigs of stuff on there or your hard drive space is not being properly read. U might need to reformat the drive if necessary.
Meanwhile your xbox electronics may have a limit on the size of space - so if the drive has 200 gigs of space on it and your unit will only recognize 32 gigs, then that is all it sees and can use. Capiche?

Will not boot up

Ive done a few dell mini notebooks and this problem was always corrupt hardrive or the hardrive died. Solution take hardrive out plug it as external into another pc see if it spins up and you see it show up on pc. If it does then itll be just corrupted and will need windows reinstalling. If it doesn't youll need another hardrive itll be dead. There not expensive depending on what size you wanting. Hope this helped.

Seagate Barracuda external hardrive - damage to usb connector on

Assuming the drive itself is still ok (it sounds like it would be), then yes, you can put the drive into another case or directly into the motherboard if you know how to do that.

Itunes messed up my external hardrive

I doubt that iTunes really moved/reorganized files on your computer.

iTunest may have created its own "Table Of Contents", presenting a "view" of all your files.

Open "My Computer" and open your external hard-drive.
The files should be in "your" order.

Open "My Documents". Open "My Music".
The files should be in "your" order.

If iTunes really did "reorganize" your files, there's no way to "go back", because "Windows System Restore" does not automatically created time-stamped backups of your 'My Documents' folder (nor of any external disk-drive -- where would it put that much data???).

I called apple about this and they said there is no mac driver, that a mac should read a seagate external hard drive without any driver. My file system was ntfs.
