If it is shaking and not sitting flat ( should have no rock corner to corner) check the leveling legs. Make sure to tighten up the locknut after adjusting.

Timer
Sometimes a Timer will start making noises before they fail. I would highly suggest replacing the timer as soon as the noise develops. This can cause problems with your motor and other components if left alone. This is easy to identify just listen up near the console when running.

Transmission
The transmission does not usually fail but to check this on a direct drive remove the motor and rotate the inner tub and listen for noises it should be quiet. If not the transmission is expensive and you will need to evaluate wether it is worth repairing.

Motor Coupler
On direct drive machines this is a common failure and can be very noisy. To check and replace the motor coupler watch the video.

Motor
You will need to disassemble the washer to listen to the motor running. If the motor is noisy it will need replacing. On direct drive models check the motor coupler first.

Suspension Rods
The Suspension Rods support the tub under the cabinet on some models. The washer must be disassembled to access. These usually do not fail. On direct drive types there will be springs instead of suspension rods. Either usually fails but can from being overloaded.

Drain Pump
The drain pump can be the cause of noise. On belt drive types remove the belt and rotate the pump pulley it should spin freely and make no noise. If it is noisy replace. If it does not spin freely remove and inspect for obstructions if none found replace the pump. Check the impeller on the pump it should be tight and spin freely. On direct drive types remove the pump and inspect or replace.

SOURCE: loud noise during spin cycle

Open the cabinet top and check along the sides for a broken or out-of-position damper. Shake the mechanism in several directions to help locate. Hope this helps!

Loud in spin cycle/throws oil

If the pulley wobbles, it sounds like a bad bearing, and that could account for the oil/grease. One more thing you might check, mine acted bad in the spin cycle, but mine was the leveling spring at the bottom of the drum. The way to tell from the top is if the drum tends to lean forward instead of being centered when sitting. Good luck.

Wsher will not spin at end of cycle, tries to and stops. there was a loud bang in the previous load. drum will spin but tight. What to check kenomre 417-44142400

Hi stevensch693,

The loud bang you most likely heard is the capacitor of the motor, it has blown.

Open the washing machine up, look for the following component near the main motor:

jedemeyer1.gif
You will need to replace this component. Be very carefull when disconnecting it, as it may still give you a nasty shock.

You can find these at any appliance spares shop or even hardware outlet. Note the number on it, if requesting a emplacement - even better, take it with when purchasing one.

Kind Regards

My washer mad three loud thumps and then would not spin at all. It will pump the water out but will not spin. Do you think it is the belt. Thanks helyn

The belt might have slipped off the pulley. But when you mention that you heard loud thumps before it stopped spinning is a sign that something else might have gone wrong with your machine. With the washer turned off, turn the wash drum by hand and listen for any noises. It should turn quietly without any kind of thumping noises. Also look how the drum turns. It should turn smoothly and not wobble as it turns. If it wobbles or makes thumpiing noises, it means that the support arms are broken.

Reparing the support arms is an expensive repair, unless it is still under warranty, it not worth fixing. Get a few estimates before deciding to repair or replace it.

Washer making loud noise and wont spin

Check and see if the inner drum is loose and floppy.if it is, it's likely the bearings have collapsed, and require replacement...If the drum feels stiff and tight, it could be that something is jammed between the inner and outer drums. Both situations could be costly...Get quotes....Good luck...Nomess

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Loud banging noises

Hi!

The reason of this noise is from loose lower front weight mounting bolts or a loose bolt securing the driven pulley. Check the motor adjustment bolt for tightness. The noise could be from a loose wire harness, plastic purse-lock wire harness retainer on upper hose hitting the top cover or a plastic injection mold standoff on the outer tub bearing housing may possibly be interfering with the driven pulley. Also, check the drive belt for a weak spot on the belt. Ussually felt on the backside of the belt as a "flat" spot. Check the belt for a weak seam and replace it.

It may also occur due to the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
