Oh no it is less expensive to repair the printed circuit boards. You should buy only the IC,s that sony recomends you to buy. They will cost you more then a replacement IC will but they are not all alike even if they have the same numbers on them. Go to http://www.partstore.com and enter your model number and look for the STK IC. Don't forget to get some heatsink compound to install on the back of the new IC's before you reinstall them.. Remember to always double or triple check your work and make sure you have no solder bridges or shorts on the board. I have a Sony KP57WV700. The problem I have just started. On the left hand side there is a blue shadow. I try the Auto Convergence but this did not help. I also try the manual Convergence but it does not let me move the blue cross far enough to merge with the white Cross. I?m thinking it?s the Convergence amp IC. Have you ever seen this problem and know how to fix? I have the service manual. I just need to know what to do.I can solder pretty good. I'm just concern about the high voltage.
