My GPS displays direction and speed, and sometimes even a main road, but the cursor representing my car isn't actually on the road. If trying to plug in an address I get an error that reads "No Map Data Available". Someone from Garmin told me to go to Settings, Map, and under the "Get Map Info" tab select "city" but the Garmin doesn't let me select the "Get Map Info" tab, so it's still NOT WORKING. Ideas????
This is because your map file has either been deleted or corrupted and needs to be replaced. Please see this link for more info. Too much info to copy & paste here:

I had replaced the file in the wrong folder inside the Garmin. Make sure the file is EXACTLY where it was before the conversion
NUVI 855 ... rearranging Route ( .gpx ) files with a PC. Then "No Map Data Available" errors. Tried Garmin's site - created an Unlock file - no help. Replaced all system and data files with two different backup copies - no help.
Then ... removed the battery to check S/N. Replaced battery and unit auto restarted. Checked Maps ... OK ! Tried again adding & removing Route files ... same problem. Same Fix !! Seems to work every time.
