How to unactivate 'vcr lock' ?

My 6 year was using the remote and somehow 'locked' up the vcr. Whenever we hit play, the tape does not play and we get a message that says 'vcr lock activated'. How do we unactivate this? Manual is long gone. Thanks for your help!!

Generally, if you aim the remote at the VCR with the STOP button pressed, for around 10 seconds, the VCR gets 'unlocked'. Try it.

Proscan vcr plus gold stuck in lock

I just had the same problem and found a solution on the internet that worked. Hopefully you still have the VCR's remote control. Press and hold either the on/off, VCR1 or VCR2 button on the remote. I pressed the VCR1 button and held it for about 5-7 seconds. It released the lock and worked fine afterwards. The lock is some kind of childlock devise.

My vcr is locked

this used to happen to me years ago and hasnt happened again until today. I know there is a button to press and hold, but I dont remember which one it is. One solution I know works but can be a pain in the ass is to unplug it for a few minutes and when you plug it back in it SHOULD be free of the lock

Hi Juzzy I fixed my unit with a universal remote ( can buy them at electrical store) or borrow a friends key in 0061 (this worked on my VH-605 ) on the new remote and hit play and away you go !!

Try hitting the "Lock" button on the remote. That solved the problem for us.
