This sounds like the Hi-Fi sound dropping out. It's mostly caused by dirt on the main video head. You need to clean it with either Servisol Video 40 or a head cleaning tape.

Guide error or just guide cleaning. You have to get an alignment tape from Panasonic. Then you have study the tape path and know wich guides move and roll and which don't. Then you should demagnatise them all. Then a head cleaning is in order.
then you put the tape in and watch the playback it can be either the main entrance guide or more likely the exit guide these are found right and left sides at the top of the drum threaded up. Sometimes these guides come loose over time this is a job for an experienced tech and if you don't know what you are doing you'll never get the deck in proper alignment.

Just a thought : check if the head isn't blocked ! It should rotate freely (without any friction). I had more or less the same phenomenon (my VCR wouldn't accept any tapes and nothing was activated if I "pushed " a tape in). The reason was here that the VCR wasn't used for a long time (a few months), but it was plugged in all the time (heated up the interior). As a result the head was a-kind-of-blocked. Nothing serious, since I rotated the head manually my VCR works fine.

It is made for the Japanese Market and only available in Japanese. One of the pitfalls in importing from Japan. A quick fix it to use a smartphone with Google Translate on it and use the Camera feature to translate what you are seeing.. https://www.justanswer.com/car-electronics/7i6gz-hi-just-toyota-vitz-2009-stereo-nsdn-w59.html https://www.google.com/search?q=panasonic+w59+change+language ..

Though the 4k Blu-ray player prototype is released in 2015 CES but there isn't that much information for the price and specific launch date we can get from Panasonic. And as I know, the 4K Blu-ray is supposed to come before 2015 Christmas. Too late, huh... So let say the best for now is still watching a good movie with Macgo Blu-ray Player. By the way, it has updated to support 4K.

The power LED blinking ten times is indicative of issues with the voltages on Sub 5V, Main 3.3V, DTV 9V or the Tuner Power and the board in question is the "A-Board". Also, make sure that your units fan and airflow is not inhibited.
