SOURCE: Gas dryer not heating up

Flash, did you check the thermal fuse in the back? On a gas dryer the drum will still turn if it's blown. check out the picture and post back.

We have an LGR8648 gas dryer. When you start the dryer, it heats up just fine. At some point (after 15-20 minutes, it seems) the burner goes out and never comes back on. Is there a thermal sensor or...

The most common cause for your problem is the gas valve coils. There are 2 and should be replaced in pairs. Over time, they will fire when you first start the dryer but fail to fire again once in mid cycle. A link for a typical set of coils is listed below:

Whirlpool LX1550 gas dryer. Not heating. Lights once at beginning and then shuts off. Does not liht again.

Remove the front panel to get to the gas valve. (Sorry, without a valid model number can't tell how to do it)
Remove the metal bracket holding gas valve coils.
Replace both gas valve coils, part number 279834.

Good luck,

Flame turns on only when dryer is cold, runs for 10 minutes then burner shuts off. The coil glows very bright but the flame does not come on again until dryer has colled way down

The gas valve coils are bad. When they heat up they are losing resistance to stay on.
Turn off the gas. Unplug the machine. Remove the front panel. The gas valve will be in the front right hand corner. Remove the gas valves and replace them with new valves. Please note how the coils orient on the gas valve.

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim.

Where is the coil valve located?

The coils on this unit are located on the gas/burner valve Assembly. this is a all in one situation. everything is located on the gas valve assembly. you will need to remove the coils from the gas valve assembly.they are attached to the valve assembly.

Located on the back side of the unit on the lower back side. (right)
